Our 100th batch, brewed for the enjoyment of the brewers, but popular demand forced us to release it commercially. Most enjoyable in a comfortable chair in front of a roaring fire.

Recommended serving temperature 16°C/61°F Ingredients: Maris Otter, wheat, and chocolate malt; Columbus, Chinook, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23,5°P, 80 IBU, 10% ABV.

Editor’s note: Even though the label says "Barley Wine" in the States, the brewery usually says it’s brewed to be an IIPA. The American label was supposedly a glitch. In Europe it’s sold as an IIPA. But to save the admin crew some time dealing with user feedback, it’s listed as a Barley Wine.

Messy beer without direction. Looks like muddy waters and tastes too sweet with nothing to balance it out. Fine aroma though..

0,5 l bottle Vinmonopolet. Aroma of caramel, wood, spicy and dark fruits. Not easy to pick up everything in this beer. Taste is some of the same, but with a sweet tone. A full body with a oily texture. A nice and warming BW. Recommended.

Murky orange color with beige head. Aroma is really hoppy and also has some dried fruits. Taste starts also hoppy with some sweet, toasted malts in the background. Really balanced between the sweet malts and bitter hops. Body is medium and has a good amount of carbonation. Really nice one overall, double IPA meets barleywine.

10%ABV. Barley wine.  Poured out of the bottle a deep brown amber.  28ºSRM. Nose has stewed fruit sweetness with ripe stone fruit aromas of plums, dates and prunes. Mouthfeel is carbonated and syrupy.  Alcholic palate is pronounced, but also balanced by roasty, caramel and rye bread flavors.  There is coffee, charcoal and some burnt wheat toast flavors.    Not much hop-character, maybe with some subtle piney hints in the  Finish is brief with no hop character.  There is some residual syrupy sweetness, burnt maple sugar and honeyed dates.  The early part of the finish has some brief ume notes. Really very nice if not very interesting.

Świetny i mocny aromat suszonych owoców. Wygląd słaby - barwa brunatna, jakby brudna woda. W smaku bardzo fajnie, wytrawnie i z wyraźną goryczką.

Pours brownish black with nice fluffy head. Big body and perfect balance of roasted dark malts and bitter hops. Creamy and very malty but the hops singe the sides of your tongue. Finish is long and sticky with some toasty malts and chocolate. Hides the booze very well. Big bipa and one worth trying.

Draft at Khyber Pass. Dark murky copper brown pour with beige foam. Thin columns of lace. A rich dark caramel malt sipper. Has a few acetic notes when cold. Dried stone fruit. Cocoa nibs. Wildflower honey on toasted pumpernickel. A sticky herbal Sugar Daddy. Hints of liquorice and smoke. Sweet dark sugars. Somewhat smooth peppery finish but the alcohol burn lingers. A chocolate caramel brandy.

Bottle. Brewed 170315, BB 170320. Dark brown appearance with some red tones, sparkling clear. Light brown foam. Nose is hoppydominant with some piney flavors and some chocolate and plumlike tones pushing through. Taste is well balanced as it comes to sweetness and bitterness. Although I prefer the DIPA to be rather unbalanced to the bitter side I really enjoy this due to the complexity of using chocolate malt. Definitely rather a Black DIPA than a barley wine!

This is one of the most complex beers I’ve ever tasted. It has a really nice and lightly sparkling foam. The aroma is characterized by chocolate, plums, sour apple, pine needles, a little yeast and lots of alcohol. It tastes very composed of ripe fruit, a little chocolate, a little anise and a large malty fullness. This is a somewhat bold beer, which has a great thermal effect due to the high alcohol content which will come through on the taste significantly.
