Our 100th batch, brewed for the enjoyment of the brewers, but popular demand forced us to release it commercially. Most enjoyable in a comfortable chair in front of a roaring fire.

Recommended serving temperature 16°C/61°F Ingredients: Maris Otter, wheat, and chocolate malt; Columbus, Chinook, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23,5°P, 80 IBU, 10% ABV.

Editor’s note: Even though the label says "Barley Wine" in the States, the brewery usually says it’s brewed to be an IIPA. The American label was supposedly a glitch. In Europe it’s sold as an IIPA. But to save the admin crew some time dealing with user feedback, it’s listed as a Barley Wine.

Nice dark reddish chestnut color with a short off-white head that quickly disappears. Strong hop aroma. Lots of caramel and roasted malts. A sugary sweetness that goes along with the bitterness. Very warming, what i think an Imperial IPA should be.

Draught at Night Owl. Rich body, dark roasted malt, dried fruit, honey, herbal hops, traces of alcohol, dry smokey finish. Decent hoppy barley wine but was expecting more depth considering the hype.

Bottle. Sensoric glass. Deep brown, hazy with densed, medium head with poor retention. medicore lacing. Medium fruity aroma, light brown sugar, piney and smokey aroma. You can also feel some hints of raw grain and caramel. High bitterness from the beginning of degustation, this barley wine is not as most of available in the market - sweet and sticky. There are massvie amount of sweet and sugary malts, but hoppy character overbalance it. Full body, creamy texture, medium carbonation finish is long and sweet. In overall very excellent barley wine for real hoppy geeks.

Bottle. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Hazy, deep copper colour. Thin, lasting, clingy, beige head. Viscous and leggy. Big, DIPA aroma going on. Fusty, stewed fruit hop. Some dried vine fruits. Peppery spice. Missus says liquorice. Taste is thick, chewy sweet, turning rich, greasy, stewed hop bitter. It’s full on, certainly, but not heady. Palate is soft, rich, and full. Finishes long, resinous, oily bitter. Big beer. Really enjoyed this.
