Our 100th batch, brewed for the enjoyment of the brewers, but popular demand forced us to release it commercially. Most enjoyable in a comfortable chair in front of a roaring fire.

Recommended serving temperature 16°C/61°F Ingredients: Maris Otter, wheat, and chocolate malt; Columbus, Chinook, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23,5°P, 80 IBU, 10% ABV.

Editor’s note: Even though the label says "Barley Wine" in the States, the brewery usually says it’s brewed to be an IIPA. The American label was supposedly a glitch. In Europe it’s sold as an IIPA. But to save the admin crew some time dealing with user feedback, it’s listed as a Barley Wine.

A- Pours a dark brownish hue with a thin, earthy head. S- Very malty, caramel, dark fruit. T- Lots of dark fruit, caramel, and toffee notes without being sweet in the slightest. Dominant hop character from begining to end with a nice and bitter finish. M- Thick with low carbonation. D- This is a very tasty beer. Excellent to sip on on a cold night.

Bottled. A very tasty barley wine style beer. Malty aroma with sweet fruits. Color is typical barley wine dark brown. Taste is a good blend of sweet malt and hops with hidden deceptive alcohol. Long lasting hoppy finish with a side taste of alcohol and malt. Bravo!

500ml Flasche.

Bottle from Stirchley Wines; consumed to toast Leicester City’s promotion to the Premier League so it had better be good: opaque dark almost black with slight crimson tint. Delicious aroma of suet pudding, liquorice, honey, cough medicine. Taste is initially bitter - a nice surprise for a barley wine - with dark chocolate, malt and a superb bitter/sweet balance. Tastes like a barley wine/IPA crossbreed and smooth as you like and a hint of smoke in the slight bitter finish. Outstanding.

Some hops perhaps, fermented grains, fruit sweetness. Intense taste, fruity sweetness, some tart notes, strong but not exaggerated bitterness.

500 no bottle from trade (thanks a lot gunnar). Dark red to black color with a nice beige head. Aromas of floral hops and caramel. Taste was not so nice and balanced, especially with the yeast inside. Caramel, some bread, maybe some floral hops and yeast. Aftertaste was bitter and long, with syrupy mouthfeel. Medium to full body with medium carbonation. A nice beer but the yeast was too much for me.

Keg Half Pint at White Horse European Beer Festival 2012, Parsons Green, London in Aug 2012 - Very Dark Reddish Brown in colour. Very Malty; lots of roasty malts, dark chocolate, coffee, caramel. Fruity; dried fruits and grapefruit citrus. Hoppy; considerable resiny hop bitterness. Yeasty. Alcohol very evident. Sweet bitter roasty malty and fruity hoppy throughout. Lovely IIPA or Barley Wine or almost an Impy Stout!

Bottle, batch 1071. Dark cooper colour. Aroma: hops, tropical fruits, malts, liqueur notes, resin. Taste: Hops, tropical fruits, solid malts, average bitter, a bit of alcohol. Texture is oily. Good, strong beer.

Bottle from cunningham, many thanks my friend. Strong hoppy aroma (I can clearly distnguish Centennial which dominates the aroma) with caramel malt, resin wood, alcohol. Taste, sweet syrupy, malty backbone, followed by nice hoppy kick with tangerines, grapefruit, tropical fruits, resin. Long lasting hoppy bitter finish. Alcohol is dangerously hidden. Very tasty, whatever style it is.

Poured from 500 ml bottle. Murky, nearly opaque, dark rust brown with a 1-finger khaki head and excellent lacing. Aroma of toffee, brown sugar, caramel, pine, a touch of citrus and a dusting of chocolate. Taste of sweet malt, brown sugar, toffee, pine, mild chocolate and earthy and citric hops. Although the alcohol is clearly present, the sweetness masks it fairly well. Full body and medium carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
