3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Color is a hazy, yellow colour. Basically no head. Aroma is peaty, but still kinda fruity. Smells like a lighter Islay whisky. Surprising taste. Still, the peatyness is presenet, but the fruitier, sweet tastes comes through clearer. Practically no bitterness, medium sweetness. Light to medium body, very sweet (sticky) texture, but balanced with a lively, but not fizzy carbonation and a hint of bitterness. Not flat, but barely any bubbliness.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hazy orange color, small white head. Intensive peat malty, smokey aroma. Almost fruity, tobacco, smoke in the flavor. Suprisingly pleasant to drink.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Honey gold body with uniform haze, holds a small dense white foam,
Good intensity aroma; apart from the obvious Islay-esque peat smoke and earthiness, there’s a nice backbone of toasted malt and marmalade-y English hops.
Full body, thick without being cloying. Has a nice, low carbonation with creamy, almost Belgian-like texture.
Smooth lightly toasted malt sweetness upfront, a bit of golden syrup character with moderate intensity peat flavours; flint, camp fire, burnt rubber, tar, clove, black pepper. Low bitterness to finish, well masked alcohol, lingering peaty earthy spice - once again i’m inclined to find parallels between this and a Belgian golden strong ale
Overall i’m more underwhelmed - it’s actually quite a drinkable beer indeed and enjoyable; the peat character is well balanced. Certainly not in the same league of intense peat compared to the likes of Yeastie Boys Rex Attitude & XerRex!

3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
@ Basunen: en stor rökig doft med tydliga whiskytoner. Smaken är förvånansvärd snäll och len. God men ändå en besvikelse.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours clear orange with a little bit of white head. Aroma is mostly just peat and smoke. Same with flavour. It’s just what it says it is but just a lot more drinkable.

Great golden color. Foam pure as snow. Citrussmell. Strong, fruity and fresh. Sence of whiskey. Good

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
I don’t like smoked beers that much, so a beer with only smoked malt? It looks hazy with lots of sediments in the glass, the colour is medium orange with an amber tint. The small, white head leaves some lacing. The aroma is strong and is of course totally dominated by smoky notes: sour wood smoke, peat, sausage, cured meat and tar. There are also some sweet fruity hints in the back that actually makes the aroma less one-dimensional than I had expected. The fruits are even more in the back when it comes to the flavours, this is all sour wood smoke and smoked and cured meat. Not that sausagey. The finish has a moderate bitter taste. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Of course this is too smoky for me, but it was far more drinkable that I had feared.

Bottle 25 cl, BBE 25.10.2014. Pours light brown in color with a tanned head. Strong peat and whiskey notes, some old rubber as well in aroma. Rubber, light green vegetable, more smokey notes, some tar and a bit of sweetness in aftertaste.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
25cl bottle, #02997. Hazy amber, white head. Heavy smoky aroma, peat, covering much else. Flavor has peat, malt, sweetness. Lovely peat aroma. Otherwise too sweet perhaps.
