COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is brewed with 100% Scottish peat smoked whisky malt. This malt generates an intense smokey flavor and aroma. In fact its intensity makes this beer almost undrinkable, unless you blend it with other ingredients. We recommend to use this product to give a balanced smoked note to foods and drinks as oysters, sauces, marinades, sausages, fatty fish, chocolate and dark beer. Improve your world by giving it a hint of smoke.

Shared 0,25 l bottle at Cardinal. Clear golden with a white film. Aroma of brick fireplace. Smokey, malty, chemical sweet. Medium to full body.

Not sure what points to give to this beer. Peat all over. Smoked peat in it’s purest beer form. It had to be well brewed to get it out. After that the beer is moderately sweet. The peat pulls out the flavors of smoke, alcohol, esters. Very interesting. Before I finish the bottle I’m gonna blend it with something. Not sure with what yet.

Bottle. Dark amber body with offwhite head. Aroma is smoked with hints of malts. Taste is also smoke. Aftertaste is also malty smoke. As this is not recommended to be drunken pur it drinks really nice, if you like smoke. Nice.

An slightly orange colour, a head is blond and medium. Aroma has huge amount of peat, some smoke, also smoothning sweetness. Taste has more balanced peat than in the aroma, but still strong peat, nice sweetness, some fruitness and smoke. Taste is surpringly balanced that couldn’t be expected after the aroma. Medium bodied, not at all almost undrinkable as the bottle claims. Intensive peat but still great balance. I have to like this beer. Brewed 25/10/12, BBE 25/10/14, "too old" but that’s not bothering.

small pour at LIBF, cloudy amber to light brown colour, nose is hit with smoke, salt, iodine, peat, smoked malts, caramel. burned plastic, chemical, to heavy, just like they anounce on the bottle.

Bottle sample @ Leuven Beer Innovation 2015, shared with the RB Belgian crew.

Pale, fully hazy yellow beer, under a small off-white head. Very smoked, with peat indeed, tarred gulfbreakers. Peat, tarr, Lapsan Souchong,... Medium bodied, extremely slick to oily (tarry?) feel, filmy. They promised the right thing. Smoked to the detriment of anything else.

Sample @ Leuven innovation Beer Festival #1 - Color: hazy pale blond beer with no carbonation and small white foam. Smell: domination of peat and earthy. Notes of malt, and really small caramel presence. Taste: very nice blast peat, with good taste and and balance of malt. Good persistence, and well balanced. Aftertaste: finish peat and malty. Good experience. Maybe it can be difficult to drink a bootle because of the taste of peat.

Thanks for sharing! Sampled bottled @ Leuven Innovation Beer Festival. Hazy brown, little head. Nose is peated but the peat carries an oily, plastic, smoked quality, too plastic, no balance obviously, faint sweetness,… Taste is same, big plastic oily peat, very plastic & peated, smoke, light iodine, touch creamy chocolate quality underneath, tad chemical,… Lightly fizzy,… Unbalanced gimmick obviously. Not much to say here with nothing else the peat obtained a way plastic quality. Passable esp. for what it is.

Bottle from humlebingen.com, cheers! Lots of peat, asphalt and iodine above all. At least too much for my liking. It also has got a honeyish, citrusy touch and is surprisingly soft in terms of the mouthfeel. The aftertaste comes again with a punch of iodine. Well brewed but I guess I just don’t like being reminded of an army field hospital while drinking beer.

Bottle from Den Nordiske Ølhandel, Copenhagen; batch 879, brewed 25/10/12, bb 25/10/14 (tasted Jan 2014)
Cloudy deep blond color with quite small head, not persistent. The aroma is intense, very smoked, nothing as fat as the Bamberg beers or iodine as the Islay whiskey; it’s closer to a smoked mackerel; some iodine appears later. Good body strength; moderately sweet; the smoke takes strong wood notes and some light acidity that is out of tune; it’s a bit salty; correctly bitter.
Interesting, but the aroma is much better than the flavor and final.
