4.1 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Received in 2014 Secret Santa -- Small bottle poured into a beer flut, pours a hazy dim amber with little head. Aroma is unmistakable peat, I wouldn’t describe as strong or pungent as some Islay scotches, but it is definitely pronounced. The flavor is condensed malt the builds something for the peat and smoke to expose themselves on. This tastes like Laugivulin 16 in beer form, and I love it.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Yellowish orange beer with big foamy head on top. Leaves rings of lacing to the glass. Aroma has lots of smoke and peat. Like a piece of Scotland in your beer! Taste continues with the same things, peat and smoke. With some wooden notes here and there. Medium body with high carbonation. A different version of smoked beers, I really liked the peat in it. Another great brew from Nøgne Ø.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap@olutexpo14. Orange hazy. Intense peaty, sort of rye malty nose. And some yeast. And oranges. Full med bodied, soft texture. Peaty smoky, with some fruityness. Strange.. Clean, nice fine. Weird with the peats and fruits.

Draught @ OlutExpo 2014
Pours dark orange with a smooth head. Aroma of peat, wood, smoke, ash, leather and ham. Taste is sweet, syrupy and woody with loads of peat, smoke, ash and leathery notes. Finish is sweet, stuffy and peaty with some wood, leather and smoke. Quite heavy and interesting.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Murky amber body, tiny head. Aroma is smoked peat, bacon notes, burned wood. Taste is similar, slightly sweet, massive smoked aftertaste. It’s a nice one, I don’t agree it’s undrinkable, though an all night session could be pretty boring. Excellent for using in food, like a meat caserole.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, 2 years old, batch #110. Clear golden orange, highly sparkling with a very large foamy white head. Aroma is heavily peated, fabric plaster, slightly sour, smoke. Body is light, foamy, some spritz. Taste is heavy smoke, peated whisky, a little sharp in the finish. I actually quite liked this. Certainly not ’undrinkable’ as advertised.
