Nothing is like celebrating your own milestones. This is a celebration of our 500th batch of ale. It was brewed with joy and splendor; the brewer wore a suit, and a TV station filmed the event. As a base for this ale, we have elected to play with numbers: 5 hops, 100 IBUs, 10% alcohol by volume. Indeed it is an Imperial India Pale Ale. Big and bold. Great for a celebration!

Bottle from Õllepood nr 1 Gambrinus in Tartu, August 2014. Dark, deep, cloudy amber with a massive off-white head and thick lacing. Loads of sediment in the bottom of the bottle, and later... in my glass as well, despite my carefulness. Nose... massive! Very bitter and resinous, also sweet. Berries, sundried tropical fruits, citrus, biscuits, pine resin, grains... Later some spicy yeast as well, due to the sediment. Note: while writing this review I accidentally dipped my nose in the beer 5 times. Taste is at first very sweet, then the extreme piney bitterness kicks in. It’s resinous, fruity, citrusy, ripe - there’s also a certain Campari aspect to it. Alcohol well hidden - one can sense the 10% ABV only hintingly (both in the deep aroma and the thickness of the palate), only to come to the fore after swallowing, in the warmth (or even heat?) in the throat. Full body, low carbonation, sticky mouthfeel. As a sucker for DIPA-s I say this is great stuff. Too bad the bottle’s only 50 cl.

Hazy amber, beige head. Very toasty and malty nose with oranges, hops, lemons, caramel. Flavor is malt, biscuity sweetness, oranges, alcohol in the slightly sweet finish, slight spice, followed by firm bitterness and alcohol.

Mooie oranje kleur met een volle kraag. Ruikt fruitig, kruiden, honing. Beetje orange. Smaakt bitterzoet, orange, honing. Tikkeltje zoet. Iets bittere afdronk.

Dark amber colour, cloudy. Medium height white head, reducing to small ring. Aroma of sweet red fruits, alcohol, some caramel and a hint of cooked vegetables. Taste is sweet, red fruits, resin and alcohol. Bitterness is too low for me, it’s not balancing the sweetness of this beer. Carbonation is soft, texture’s sticky. I was expecting more from this beer.

Cloudy amber color, medium beige head. Aroma of caramel, malt, honey, sweet fruits, piny hops. Taste is sweet and fruity too, full of caramel flavor and with bitter hoppy finish. Full body and soft carbonation. Nice sweet IPA with strong caramel notes.

Aromat: tropikalne owoce, mandarynka, korzenne przyprawy, chmiel, alkohol Smak: tropikalne owoce, wytrawna goryczka, alkohol, swietnie zbilansowane, mordercza jak na ten voltaż pijalność. Wspaniałe piwo.

0,5L bottle, BB 17.02.19. Pours hazy amber with off-white head. The head stays. Aroma is fruits, pine, malt, and mandarins. Taste is sweet and bitter, malt, citrus, mandarins, pine, malt, and caramel. Finish is fruity pine bitter. Alcohol is well covered and it is surprisingly easy to drink considering the IBU. Overall: another great brew by Nogne.
