COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Nothing is like celebrating your own milestones. This is a celebration of our 500th batch of ale. It was brewed with joy and splendor; the brewer wore a suit, and a TV station filmed the event. As a base for this ale, we have elected to play with numbers: 5 hops, 100 IBUs, 10% alcohol by volume. Indeed it is an Imperial India Pale Ale. Big and bold. Great for a celebration!

Pour - Rusty orange with white foamy thick head. Good amount of lace on the glass. A very aesthetically pleasing beer. Aroma - Dried orange peel, dried apricot, green grapes, a bit of a musty earthy smell, rye comes through after letting it settle a bit Taste - orange, citrus hops, pine, powerful bitterness throughout, and a little boozy but quickly disappears. Palate - oily mouthfeel with a long bitter finish. Medium body. I enjoyed this beer, but as far as IPAs go, I’d rather have a Satisfaction Jackson or a Founders Centennial IPA. However, for IPA lovers, definitely a beer worth trying at least once.

Golden brown color, hazy, with a decent white head. Aromas are intense, mainly containing orange, malt, grapefruit, honey and ripe grapes. Enormous bitterness from the beginning on, accompanied by sugary, burned malts. Oily, slick mouthfeel, medium bodied. Aftertaste is defined by an intense, long staying bitterness. Carbonation is low, doesnt support the bitterness as much as the sweet malts. Hops tend to be full of lime and pine, wrapped in honey. The usual flavors of refreshing tropical fruits are missing. Bitterness kicks in very sharp and intense, buts stays in overall balance, due to the present malt-backbone, adding a warm, sweet note to the beer.

This is a big beer, but not overpowering. Very sweet which makes you not notice the 10% alcohol. Very complex, hoppy. Goes down smooth...a bit too smooth.

Draught@Braukunst Live München 02/2014. Harsh aroma of catpee and manure, ?Simcoe/?Centennial or chloric pipes be damned. Waft of amped malts, the warning sign of IIPA-barley wine tresspassings.Bitter orange and apricot marmelade in caramalt overdrive racing towards a near-medicinal stalemate with resinous grapefruit peel, mercifully coated by a certain yeastiness and a limp biscuit (yes) base. Clearly an expert brew, but overamped IIPA’s like this will always burn some rubber in the end, leaving a self-eradicating trail of aroma bodies behind...

I would call this more an American barley wine. Aroma of citrus and resin. Beautiful red beer with white head with some Brussels lacing. Medium to full bodied. Creamy sweet thick beer. Some bitterness but great beer. Little plum. Really nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at BKL 2014. Hazy orange, amber cream. Pine and grapefruit nose. Sweet fruity sugary, piney, hop oils, orange oils. Tilted towards the hops, a bit too sweet and resinny for me.

(draught) pours a hazy ruby-amber colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of herbal hops, pineapple juice and earth, with a hint of sweatsocks and strawberries. flavour is mostly the same, slightly oxidized, with notes of mango, more strawberries, nettles and treebark. medium to heavy-bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle at home, bought in Stavanger. 21st February 14. Not as much hops on the nose as I expected, taste is sweet, mostly malts, could do with more floral hops. Nice but not great.
