1.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20
I was disappointed with this beer. It had a good taste, but it’s not an IPA for me. It pours a dark somewhat cloudy amber. I don’t know if this means a whole lot, but the head didn’t leave a lot of lacing either. It had a dense, sweet malt liquor smell to it. When I drank it I got a very heavy taste that was sticky in my mouth. The taste reminded me of caramelized onions. It wasn’t a hoppy IPA. It tasted more like bitter malt liquor. Sorry, but I’m not impressed with this IPA.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
At just on cool and into a shallow snifter. Muddy, dull orange; well conditoned with very fine, and very sparse carbonation. Head is ill to form more than a wafer of dense, tight off-white foam. Little lace. Buttery, citrus drowned nose like a wet, brioche mix. Hints of pineneedles, blackbutt honey, rose water and pear-drop candy gives it a little depth, but the diacetyl note is undeniable. A much cleaner, much more stable offering on the palate. Ripe, all encompassing citrus notes flag it all the way into the quenching, clean cut and only gently warming swallow. Caramelised blood orange and tangerine with just an edge of apricot syrup. Not sweet; actually really well balanced as it heads south and dries out. Good body; nice, viscous, oily feel to it makes it a heavy hitter. The carbonation light and spritzy. Toasted grain, light bready yeast note, a little wood and roasted almond across the mid-palate to remind you it is after all an India pale ale that’s being quaffed. The alcohol does build as the glass empties but hey, that’s a good thing. This is a pleasing number; not complex or demanding, but equally just a nice, easy drinking ale that packs a bit of a wallop! 4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
DAA; Celebrating our national day and own milestone of 500 ratings. Pours hazy dark golden orange with a creamy, lasting lacing off-white head. Nose fills with malt, caramel, loads of citrus fruit, orange, tropic and pine. Taste is loads of sweet and bitter, light sour and spicy, all balancing warming and lasting. Body is medium to full, texture is oily to creamy, carbonation is soft. Surely, as described, big, bald and a great beer for celebrations.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from a 750 cc bottle shared with JB. Pours cloudy copper with a quickly fading tan head. Aroma is an amazing fusion of tropical fruit (papaya, banana, mango), sugar cane, caramel, and sweet malt. Flavour is roasted malt with notes of caramel, coffee, and dried dark fruit. There are surprising hops giving a crisp bitter finish. Medium body. Awesome Imperial IPA!

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pour is very cloudy dark orange. Smell is slightly floral and boozy. Little to no head. Taste is overly caramel. Biting hop that's not pleasant.
