Nothing is like celebrating your own milestones. This is a celebration of our 500th batch of ale. It was brewed with joy and splendor; the brewer wore a suit, and a TV station filmed the event. As a base for this ale, we have elected to play with numbers: 5 hops, 100 IBUs, 10% alcohol by volume. Indeed it is an Imperial India Pale Ale. Big and bold. Great for a celebration!

Pours a hazy golden orange with a thick and creamy off-white head. Sweet aroma of orange zest, herbs, dried fruit and honey. Full body, oily feel, medium carbonation. Taste starts off very rich and vinous with lots of hops and some alcohol before moving towards caramel, malt and citrus. I wouldn’t be surprised if I woke up next morning with this looong and bittersweet finish. A real powerhouse IIPA.

500ml bottle. Brewed january 2014. Pours hazy orange golden with a low off white head. Aroma is malts, sweet and candied fruits, marmalade. Hops gone due to the time. Taste is similar with caramel and fruity notes. Final bitterness still present but without particular flavors. Medium body, medium carbonation. Should have had it fresher.

A great round, hoppy, fruity aroma. Colour is very beautiful: dark cloudy orange. The taste is very complex and quite interesting, the bitterness is very well balanced. I just thought it’s a little bit too sweet. But overally a great beer!

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2015 Bottle, dipa and barley wine at the same time. Sweetness and bitterness, dry malty finish, that’s just a little aftertaste but on tap aftertaste and aroma is better.

A surprisingly dark beer. Brown really, with sediment in the glass. This might be an older bottle, but I am trying not to blame the beer for that. Lots of malt, brown sugar flavors. Dusty, dry hops, some basement mustiness. Full flavored, but I am sure the hops have lost their brightness with too much time in this bottle.

Bottle, 500mL. Home. A clear chestnut brown beer with few bubbles. Big beige head with a poor retention. Roasty and smoky aroma, spices, heather, tropical fruits, citrus, resin, herbs. Medium to heavy sweet, medium dry bitter. Medium voluptuous body, medium texture, good carbonation, sweet warming and light herbal finish. Overall, great aroma, delicious, good taste depth and balance.
