Editor’s note: Originally a special brew made for Aku Aku Tiki Bar in Oslo, but some kegs found their way to other pubs as well. Later on changed name to Lemongrass as Aku Aku Tiki Bar quit buying it.

The beer has got a deep golden colour -light hazy- with steady head and smooth body. Nice aroma of lemon and spices. Taste of intense citrus, leaves, fresh hops, nuts and spices. Very quaffable and easy to drink - enjoyed it a lot.

On tap at Henrik in Bergen. Starts slightly sweet, lightly hopped. LIght, dry finish. Lemongrass gives it a very refreshing finish. Very drinkable. Golden color.

Tap on cardinal. Yellow clear color with small nice withe head. Nose of some ginger, some wood and spicyness, feel a nice scent of lemonzest. Flavour is a mild clean flavour of lemongrass, but could de tastyer. A nice ale to try but had bigger expectations.

(Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm, 17 May 2013) Amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of citrus, roasted malt, toast and apricots. Malty, fruity taste with citrus, a touch of grapefruit, apricots, spicy hints of lemongrass and a fairly dry finish with a certain citric bitterness. Medium body, fairly dry. Well balanced and tasty with the lemongrass lurking in the background. Nice one.

In short: Lemongrass and more lemongrass
How: Tap at Aku Aku Tiki Bar, Olso Norway (the bar for which this beer is made)
The look: Cloudy blonde body topped by a medium white head leaving lots of lacings on the glass
In long: nose is obviously lemongrass, very much so, couldn’t detect anything else. In mouth the beer is an lemongrass attack of unmatched intensity. I’ve had other lemongrass beers before but compared to this beer they all made subtle use of lemongrass. This is like chewing honeyed coated lemongrass. Not a bad beer if you like lemongrass but this is really extreme. Somehow my taste buds got used to the extrem-beer and I found the second half of my glass more enjoyable than the first. A very unusual beer from Nøgne Ø, a brewery with strange beers and strange vowels.
