COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Asian Pale Ale is a light and refreshing ale. It has generous amounts of lemongrass, added late in the brewing process to ensure that we capture its light, crisp and tangy aromas. This beer work well as a thirst quenching beverage, as well as paired with asian food, salads and light meat dishes. We recommend to pour cautiously to leave the natural sediments behind. Recommended serving temperature 8 deg C / 47 deg F. Ingredients: Malted barley, malted wheat, hops, lemongrass, English ale yeast and our local Grimstad water. Recommended serving temperature 8 deg C / 47 deg F

Bottle, 550ml. A cloudy amber beer with minimal white head. Aroma is of lemon, hops and citrics. Taste is moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Very light bodied and feels somewhat watery. Fizzy carbonation and faint astringency, with a floral (bambu-like) aftertaste.

Bottle, 500ml. Clear dirty golden with a frothy offwhite head. Sweet citrus and lemongrass aromas, hints of caramel. Medium bodied, fizzy carbonation. Medium sweet, medium to light bitterness. Deep roasted and fruity character into a mild fizzy finish. Light and fresh.

An APA spiced with lemongrass, depicted on the otherwise typically sober label. Irregular, coarse, bubbly, moussy, off-white head on top of a lightly hazy peach blonde beer with vivid sparkling. Quite straightforward aroma of indeed some dry lemongrass (but less fragrant than I expected), next to dried flowers, grape peel, starfruit, baker’s yeast, toasted white bread, bitterroot, white pepper, dry earth, sourdough, dried peppermint (probably the lemongrass again), raw pineapple, hay, soap, fresh yellow grapefruit peel, some stale urine (old hops?). Crisp onset, clean, with vague fruity accents of green banana and starfruit, subdued sweetishness, minerally, gently carbonated, spicy touches here and there, over a lean, supple body, a bit grainy, somewhat bready and soapy (wheaty), lightly toasted, evolving into a drying, spicy, earthy hoppiness yielding floral and peppery aromas retronasally and leaving behind a thin but long-lasting, spicy bitterness. Lemongrass blends in with the hops but remains very subtle, even though the brewery states it was added late in the brewing process in order to capture its aromas; I had other lemongrass-flavored beers with more delicate exotic spiciness to them so either this bottle is already past its prime, or the lemongrass hasn’t been applied all too succesfully. Other than that, this is a perfectly fine, well-crafted APA, but I hadn’t expected anything less from them.

Z beczki. Niezwykle przyjemny aromat: świeże drożdże, tureckie galaretki różane, nutka werbeny. W smaku rozcieńczony sok z grejpfruta, potem jakieś owocowe perfumy, zamiast goryczki raczej cierpkość trawy cytrynowej. Taki lekki letni wynalazek, miły, czysto sesysjny.

500ml can version at home. Pours light amber colour with moderate head. Really grassy and citrusy aroma. Light to medium body, some bitterness. Citrus and lemongrass are pretty dominant here. Pretty easy to drink.

Bottle. Aroma is citrus, grass and malt. Taste is much of the same, but includes herbs, soap and is more grassy. Not the best Nøgne beer...

Can. Golden, cloudy, average to large and mostly lasting head. Moderate, malty and lightly sweetish aroma, light fruitiness and citrus/herbal notes (lemongrass) caramel, light hoppyness. Body is medium, malty and lightly sweetish flavor, light fruitiness and citrus/herbal notes with light hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and dryish, light fruitiness and some citrus/herbal notes with light hoppyness. Not big fan of spiced ales. Here you have more lemongrass than hoppyness/hops. Taste is bit medicinal. Curiosity, not very enjoyable PA. Nice head though.

Bottle @ RBBWG 2016. Many thanks! Yellow golden colour, white foam. Nose of pineapple and citruss. Grass and bitter finish. Good.

50 cl, bottle conditioned (also available in cans). It’s recommended to pour gently and leave sediments in the bottle, so that’s what I do. Semi-clear golden amber in the glass, thin white head, low level of carbonation. Aroma is malty and citrusy. Mouthfeel is dry and very bitter. Taste is kind of balanced, but the lemongrass and citrus are dominating.
