Editor’s note: Originally launced as bottle conditioned Kos på Groos as a festival beer for the Skral rock/pop festival in 2008. Spring 2009 it was relaunched as Blonde, tap only. For the Free Port Days in Kristiansand June 2009 it was sold bottle conditioned once more, this time with an extra addition of Cascade hops, under the name Porto Franco. Released on bottle as Blonde January 2011.

On the label of Kos på Groos: Kos På Groos nytes best avkjølt i sola mens man opplever god musikk.

On the label of Porto Franco: Øl har lange tradisjoner til sjøs.

English:Blonde Ale is refreshing anytime, but especially after working outside om a hot summer day.Serve at 6 degrees C and pair with seafood and other light meals. Nøgne Ø ales are bottle conditioned, so pour carefully if you do not want to disturb the yeast sediments in the bottle.

Poured a translucent honey gold colour - great looking beer. Had a thick white foamy head that lasted and laced. Aromas subtle, traces of yeast. Tasted sweet followed by slight hops bitterness. Finished soft with sweetness and slight bitterness. Moderate carbonation. Medium to light body. Refreshing!

Bottle from Stirchley Wines, Birmingham. Beautiful hazy yellow appearance, with white, soft fluff. Smells typically Belgian - that wheaty, yeasty smell. Rich mouthfeel, filled with lemon, some pineapple boiled sweet and iced bun. Does feel remarkably Summery. A delicious, fresh drinkable session ale.

500ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy pale gold, with a huge white head, which lasts fairly well and leaves some lace. The aroma is quite muted, but does have some cinnamon, cloves and fruity Belgian yeast. Lemon hops notes are slightly diminished by a sweet yeast flavour up front. Estery yeast dominates the body, with only very faint biscuit malt notes lurking in the mix. Sweet citrus and more estery yeast make up the finish. This is passable enough, but like so many Belgian-style beers it is far too yeast-dominated.

On tap at Henrik. Has a cloudy light straw yellow colour with a small white head. The aroma and flavour feels very fresh and is dominated by citrus, hay, grapefruits and some yeast. Has a slick mouth feel, and a medium bitterness. A solid blonde!

Orange peel and zesty lemon aroma. Similar flavours on the palate. Very smooth and refreshing but not as interesting as the average nogne o offerings.
