COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s note: Originally launced as bottle conditioned Kos på Groos as a festival beer for the Skral rock/pop festival in 2008. Spring 2009 it was relaunched as Blonde, tap only. For the Free Port Days in Kristiansand June 2009 it was sold bottle conditioned once more, this time with an extra addition of Cascade hops, under the name Porto Franco. Released on bottle as Blonde January 2011.

On the label of Kos på Groos: Kos På Groos nytes best avkjølt i sola mens man opplever god musikk.

On the label of Porto Franco: Øl har lange tradisjoner til sjøs.

English:Blonde Ale is refreshing anytime, but especially after working outside om a hot summer day.Serve at 6 degrees C and pair with seafood and other light meals. Nøgne Ø ales are bottle conditioned, so pour carefully if you do not want to disturb the yeast sediments in the bottle.

7 Fresh wheaty, a touch perfumey.
3+ Pale, hazy, small tight white head.
7 Lovely smooth wheaty grains, some spice - corriander seed - and quite perfumey. A touch citrussy.
3 Refreshing palate, pleasant carbonation. Finish is pink grapefruit bitterness.
13 All roung good sessionable crisp hoppy wheat ale.
500ml bottle (K Kamppi, Helsinki) (7:3+:7-:3:13=3.4)
Looks the same. Aroma very similar, more floral and perfumy, quite a bit of corriander seed. Taste perhaps a little more agressive, more on the sourer and grapefruity side. Again refreshing, but a little over-crisp with the fiziness. Nice wheaty finish, with again a fair grapefruity bitter bite and tingle that builds up nicely over time. Don’t mind rerating this one in a different dispense - it’s the same score keg and bottle, so respect to Nogne for consistency.

Hazy golden body, white head. Aroma is really hoppy, spicy and roughly yeasty. Flavour has rough yeast flavour, really bitter bite. Very harsh blonde, but good brew.

500ml bottle. Golden amber colour with a slight beige head. Aromas of peach and nectarine are refreshing while the flavour is dry and fruity. POurs well and looks good in the glass.

UPDATED: OCT 30, 2011 On keg at Bacchus, Newcastle. Pours a cloudy blonde colour with a decent white head. Reminds me of a saision with lemon citrus and pepper characters. Aroma also of caramel, candy sugar, white pepper, hay and grass. Flavours of caramel, little sweet and smoky, mild tar quality and some grassy hops. A little thin with a foamy mouth-feel. Moderate carbonation and a mild CO2 prickle. Peppery lemon citrus linger. Had this again in bottle. Pours a clear blonde colour. Beautiful floral aroma with big juicy pineapple and melon hops. Similar flavours and a nice chewy mouth-feel. Definite lemon and white pepper saison notes. Going to have to up my rating from (737316). Very nice!

50cl bottle. Pours a light golden/lemon colour with gentle bubbles and a thin layer of lace. The nose has lemon zest, with just a hint of something herby in the background. The taste has more zingy lemon, then sour lemon. The palate is very good but very one dimensional - it’s light to medium in body, tangy and medium textured in the middle with a sour finish. Overall, it’s a good example of a Belgian-style blonde but I’ve had a lot better.

500 ml bottle. #591. Finland.
Hazy orange colour with small bubbly off-white head. Yeast, grain, malt, flour and some bitterness in aroma. Fruity and grassy bitter hops, Belgian yeast and grainy malt in flavour. Not bad.

50 cl bottle. #591: BBE 140213, brygget 140211.
Rather mild and a bit sourish aroma has fruits and some hints of belgian yeast. Taste is fruity and has that yeast too. Smooth palate and a dry finish. In blind tasting I would take this as a saison from Belgium – not a blonde from Norway.

Bottle at Cardinal in Stavanger. Hazy golden/yellow with a large white head. Aroma of citrus, yeast, caramel and some lime. About the same in the rather different but good taste. Refreshing with a fairly light mouth feel.
