Editor’s note: Originally launced as bottle conditioned Kos på Groos as a festival beer for the Skral rock/pop festival in 2008. Spring 2009 it was relaunched as Blonde, tap only. For the Free Port Days in Kristiansand June 2009 it was sold bottle conditioned once more, this time with an extra addition of Cascade hops, under the name Porto Franco. Released on bottle as Blonde January 2011.

On the label of Kos på Groos: Kos På Groos nytes best avkjølt i sola mens man opplever god musikk.

On the label of Porto Franco: Øl har lange tradisjoner til sjøs.

English:Blonde Ale is refreshing anytime, but especially after working outside om a hot summer day.Serve at 6 degrees C and pair with seafood and other light meals. Nøgne Ø ales are bottle conditioned, so pour carefully if you do not want to disturb the yeast sediments in the bottle.

UPDATED: AUG 5, 2009 Draught, Olympen Mat Og Vinhus, Oslo. Thinnish peachy haze with a rapidly diminishing white collar. Labrador sprayed with Fairy Liquid aroma; dankness, some vegetables, lemon barley squash. Winegummy lime and tame citrussy hop stillness, like the Ardenne with flat lemonade. A little dank and watery, but OK.

On tap at Olympen mat og vinhus. Foggy pale yellow colour, almost no head - which reduces the appearance rating a bit. The nose is full of citrus, some spices. The flavour is a lot like their Wit, a bit less sour though - citrus, spicy and a slighly hoppy. Nice summer beer.

From Akevitt. Batch 361. A hazy, yellow color. Tall but thin head. Light hops. Some yeast, clearly Belgian. Like a fusion of a cream ale, with the hops of a light flavored pale ale, and an ordinary Belgian ale.

From 500ml bottle (Batch 361) and shared by Akevitt, pours a semi-clear golden pale colored brew with an average sized white head that has some nice retention and spotty lacing. Aroma of light fruity golden grain malt, a hint of peach, wheat malt, honey and a touch of citrus zest. Taste is medium bodied, nice carbonated, with flavors of dry golden grain malt, a touch of herbs, yeast and some citrus. Finish is smooth, semi-sweet with a golden grain and citrus zest aftertaste.

Bottle at Craig’s house, Edinburgh. Thanks for sharing this with me Craig 20-03-09 Pours a hazy lemon like colour with a white frothy head. Aroma is yeasty and there is some fresh fruit. This is initially a little sweet in the mouth and do I get the coriander?, mmhhh.. not sure that I can say that I detect it, but I suppose there is a herbalness about this. Another quality beer from Nogne. A6 A3 F7 P3 OV14 3.3

On tap as Nøgne Ø Blond at Olympen, Oslo. Cloudy, peach colour with a small white froth. Fruity and spicy aroma. Lots of coriander, too much some may say, still decent fruitiness. Dry finish. Overspiced, but strangely appealing with its fruitiness and being dry as a bone towards the finish.
