3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Decent sized fizzy head of mixed size bubbles. Light carbonation. Nice roasty aroma with some chocolate malts, light coffee and plums. Color is a very nice and deep port brown. Roasty flavor with more dark chocolate malts, roasted grains, walnuts and light bitter coffee. Body is light to medium and a little on the thin side. Then again it is only 4.5 abv. Palate is dry and a bit chalky and pretty bitter actually. Finishes dry and roasty with lingering bitter coffee notes. A pretty good brown ale.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
It pours a deep brown body with a modest tan head. The aroma is a lightly roasted malt with juicy fruits, nuts, toast, and a slight whiff of orange blossoms. There’s a lot going on in the flavor as all these blend together smoothly along with the addition of a light, floral bitter hopping. Dry finish. Excellent session material.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark brown with a modest head. The aroma has nice notes of roasted malt, and the flavour is wonderful. It’s both smooth and pleasant, but also refreshing and crisp with it’s notes of roasted malt, fruit and licorice. It has a moderate, but just right, bitterness in the finish. A very nice BA, a pity that the Nøgne Ø beers are so expensive.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
to my surprise there are very few US rates here, since the bottle I had was carefully labelled for the US, anyway, unusual brown ale. Roasted aroma, some barley, hops and malts. bitter finish, very complex palate for a brown ale. Nogne O are rapidly coming my favorite micro brewery in the world

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
500 ml bottle. Dark brown and ruby red. Crystal clear. Small off-white head. Roasted barley aroma. Feels dry and like a dry stout. In a blind test I would have taken it for just that. Slight yeast bite at first, which is soon covered by roasted malts. This is more a stout than a classic brown ale. Some crystal malts can be found, but they are far into the back. Dry finish from hops. The yeast bite does also reoccur at the end. I haven’t found the yeast bite in their other beers, so that might be something specific to this batch. Disappointing.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, DBF 2005. Hazy bronze, low off white head and low condition. Gentle mix of fruity hop and bitter coffee in the nose, pleasantly balanced in the mouth with a low but sustained hop note matched by sweet chocolate and caramel notes, lingering but muted finish with elements of hop and chocolate apparent.
