A dark brown English ale, in which classic English malts meet the spicy hoppiness of the new world. Recommended serving temperature 8°C/45°F. Goes very well with ‘pub grub.’

Ingredients: Maris Otter, wheat, chocolate, brown, amber, and caramel malt; Crystal hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

11°P, 27 IBU, 4,5% ABV.

16.9 oz bottle pours brown with a tan head. Taste of roasted malt, coffee and a hint of toffee. Taste is the malt and coffee. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I'd say while not a favourite, not too far off. A solid brown ale with excellent malty flavours. From the bottle in Norwegian hotel bar. Probably should have had it before the pale ale as the hops in that tended to overpower. A good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Dark brown colour, small head. Aroma is chocolate, some malt and some roasted malt. Taste is dominated by chocolate, like a cheap chocolate pudding almost (weird for a beer I think), some malt and some licorice. Not impessed.

Again the smoke came sneaking but not as dominating. Good taste and good looks ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

50 cl, bottle conditioned. Lovely dark red-brown colour, Ruby in front of a light bulb, low visible carbonation. Restrained aroma of coffee and dark chocolate, sweet and roasted at the same time. Mouthfeel is dry and well carbonated, some hop bitterness. Flavours of roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee and caramel. Long aftertaste. Great craft beer that has been around for quite some time now.

Bottle @ home. From the brewery. While being a gusher this is still a really nice brown ale with a delicate but quite intense milk chocolate aroma and taste. Flavors also include nuts, bread, coffee, fruits. Quite alot of coffee in the aroma too. Mouth feel is dry, with a bit of brown ale soapiness, slightly acidic by roasted malts. Balanced bitterness.

Draft at Stone's (Helsinki, Finland). Intensive sweet chocolate aroma. Tastes first to sweet chocolate with hints of roasty notes. Clean bitterness. Palate is really smooth. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark grown color. LIghter carbonation. Wonderful aromas of coffee and chocolate. Taste was not as remarkable. Low sweetness. Coffee-like malt flavor, so much that I thought it might have had coffee added. Little bit of bitterness and acidity. Like most browns, it seemed to have a hole in the palate. Probably my least favorite beer style, but this one was well made.
