3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cloudy brown color, hints of red with a thin, tan head. Strong aroma that is intensely earthy with caramel balancing and a nice overlay of milk chocolate...sounds nice does’nt it. Unfortunately as it warms it shows a lot of rubber band-like aromas that are akin to dead yeast cells similar to what is found in the aroma of Greene Kings beer these days. Flavor is not as good as the aroma. There is a distractijng winyness that undoes the palate. The aroma components are there but are overshadowed by the wine-like character and the thin, almost unsubstancial body. This is light, spicy, and quite flavorful for a beer of just over 4% ABV but the rubber-like, dead yeast cell really gains prominence as it warms. This probably should not have been shipped to the US. It is too small of a beer to make the trip. Overall points are high for what it could be.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Dark brown colour, small head. Aroma is chocolate, some malt and some roasted malt. Taste is dominated by chocolate, like a cheap chocolate pudding almost (weird for a beer I think), some malt and some licorice. Not impessed.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
50 cl, bottle conditioned. Lovely dark red-brown colour, Ruby in front of a light bulb, low visible carbonation. Restrained aroma of coffee and dark chocolate, sweet and roasted at the same time. Mouthfeel is dry and well carbonated, some hop bitterness. Flavours of roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee and caramel. Long aftertaste. Great craft beer that has been around for quite some time now.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle @ home. From the brewery. While being a gusher this is still a really nice brown ale with a delicate but quite intense milk chocolate aroma and taste. Flavors also include nuts, bread, coffee, fruits. Quite alot of coffee in the aroma too. Mouth feel is dry, with a bit of brown ale soapiness, slightly acidic by roasted malts. Balanced bitterness.

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark grown color. LIghter carbonation. Wonderful aromas of coffee and chocolate. Taste was not as remarkable. Low sweetness. Coffee-like malt flavor, so much that I thought it might have had coffee added. Little bit of bitterness and acidity. Like most browns, it seemed to have a hole in the palate. Probably my least favorite beer style, but this one was well made.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Reddish brown on colour with a large off-white head with a very appealing aroma of caramel, malt, bread, nuts and chocolate. Some smoky flavours dominate the aroma with the nuttiness being a close second. Roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and nut in the flavour with some smoke and bitterness in the after-taste. Low in carbonation and a light body, the crystal hops just add the needed subtle hops bitterness that is needed to balance out all the sweetness of the malt.
