50cl bottle from Centra Colosseum. Batch 207. It poured a red-brownish colour with a medium head that settles down fast. The aroma smells of liquorice, caramel and roasted malts. It tastes of coffee, dark chocolate and roasted malts. It has a short aftertaste.

Bottle 500ml. Great brown ale. Aromas of chocolate, caramel, and nuts. Taste is sweet, and long lasting. Palate is silky, and medium bodied. Dark brown, with a frothy white head.

Bottle: Poured a dark brown color with a nice tan head. The aroma was sweet coffee and caramel malts. The flavor was the same but with a light hoppy finish. Overall, an excellent Brown Ale...one of my favorites so far.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Sigmund (3695) - Hafrsfjord, NORWAY - OCT 29, 2003
(500 ml bottle). Dark brown colour, slightly hazy, some sediment, good head. Lovely aroma of caramel, cedar wood, nuts and cookies. Flavour is nutty and biscuity with burnt edges. Not too sweet. Aftertaste has some bitterness with burnt notes. (Some might not like the burnt part, but I do!) If Newcastle Brown is your idea of a brown ale, you're in for a surprise!
4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 thedm (4123) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - SEP 8, 2009
This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of foamy finely sized light brown colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a transparent strongly carbonated dark brown colored body and an excellent lacing. The nice aroma was brown malt and mild hop. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The yummy flavor contained delicious notes of brown malt and mild milk chocolate. A wonderful best in class brew. More please!
4.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 unclemattie (3342) - Georgia, USA - DEC 29, 2007
A gift from my friend Audra. 22oz bottle. Pours deep, even brown color with a thin white head. Nice lace. Smokey, roasty, porter-like aroma. I sense complex malts and a nice hop presence. Very crreamy body. Big roasted malt notes, followed by a lingering hop bitterness. Bigger bodied than most other brown ales I have had. This one tops the cake!
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 heemer77 (4791) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - MAY 29, 2007
From a bottle purchased at John’s in Iowa City. The body is dark brown with deep amber at the edges. The head is dark khaki with large bubbles. The aroma is sweet pancakes with some ginger. There is a hint of a tropical fruit note, like mango. The taste is deep roasted walnuts with some rich milk chocolate. There is a hint if biscuits in the finish. The mouthfeel is slightly thick and sticky. An exceptional brown ale.

I have been thoroughly impressed with all of the Nogne brews I have had so far. The guys at the liquor store told me this was the best Nogne brew so I was pumped to try it. I was a little dissapointed in this beer compared to the Porter and the Imperial Stout Nogne offers. This had a nice off white head with a dark brown appearance. Not my favorite brown ale but it was better than most I have tried. Nice bitter aftertaste.
