4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Gusler (2655) - Tucson, USA - DEC 13, 2007
The pour reveals a clear brown body with a creamy light tan head that dissipates slowly, leaving a complete cover upon the glass. Nose has a black walnut like sweetness, hints of caramel and hops, malt earthiness also noted, quite clean and refreshing. Start has a perfect malt presence, sweet with a modicum of bittering hops at the back, medium in feel. Finish has a masterful acidity, the hops pleasantly spicy, sweet and tart, dry aftertaste, a really nice representative to the style.
3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 micky67 (7) - - JAN 28, 2012 does not count
From 0.5l bottle, pours and dark brown colour with light brown, foamy head, volatile caramel/biscuit notes and medium sourness in taste. Lively on the tongue, with slightly smoky undertones in its abrupt finish. Had this with a steak meal and worked reasonably well, though not quite as refreshing as I hoped.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Stephanos (617) - NORTHERN IRELAND - JAN 12, 2012
Dark ruby-brown with toffee and higher alcohols aroma on the nose. Mildly bitter, faintly fruity yeast, far too carbonated. Very disappointing.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 avantdagare (36) - Malmö, Sweden, SWEDEN - DEC 12, 2011
4 finger dark beige head that sinks to 5 mm, red-brown body. Nose: Nuts, lemon, dishwasher-cloth, raspberies hard-candy. Taste: Toffee, nuts, licorice and milk-chocolate. Some bitterness in the ending, the hops are presence. Quite good fresh, but might be better with aging as the hops are somehow (too) aggressive.
4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 PotjeBier (425) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - DEC 10, 2011
50 cl bottle. Batch 404 Brygget 080109 BB 080111 - enjoyed 091211. Color is dark brown, head (foam comes out of the bottle, not really gushing but still) is beige, creamy, firm, sticky (good lace). Aroma’s: Heavy roast, ash, dark coffee, malty sweet, a bit red fruit/berries. Flavor is roasted-bitterish, like coffee. Light body. Finishes dry, with roast and rather bitter. Excellent still after three years.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 laiti (1011) - Tampere, FINLAND - NOV 24, 2011
50 cl bottle @ home. #576: bottled 11.01.2011, BBE 11.01.2013
Rather malty aroma has nuts, toffee, dark chocolate. Flavour is also malty with chocolate, nuts, some coffee and semi-dark chocolate. Surprisingly thick and creamy palate for a 4,5% ABV beer. Feels like light doppelbock without the sweetness of malt which is balanced with the hops here. Adding the yeast sediment is not recommended, it makes this more bitter.
