Tap at Paradiso Dupont. The pour is a muddy, murky deep brown with a thin white head. Really no head formation. Nose is pretty muted. Mild berries and fruit juice. Taste is similar- very thin fruit juice with prickly carbonation. Very odd. Goes quite chalky and intensely bitter with small cinnamon spice. But really odd. Perhaps over attenuated? Certainly inoffensive but really doesn’t bring forth a lot of discernible character. If given to me in a Juicy Juice box, I would probably not once stop to think if I had been secretly given beer.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 AshtonMcCobb (1444) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - SEP 6, 2011
50cl bottle. Pours an opaque coffee colour with a decent head. The nose is chocolatey with a slight burnt coffee note. The taste is more of the same but the coffee is dominant this time. The palate is good - nice texture after a medium sized body and then cleans ok. Overall, yep another great reproduction of a style by Nogne. Is there any style they can’t do?

On keg at Bacchus, Newcastle. Pours a hazel colour with a decent yellowish head. Typical Belgian dubbel aroma, fruity with blueberries, caramel, chocolate and yeast. Flavours of blueberries again, yeast, apple, barley and caramel. Light carbonation with a little CO2 prickle. Foamy mouth-feel. OK but a little thin.
