Brun er en upasteurisert og ufiltrert belgisk type ale. Øl fra Nøgne Ø er flaskegjæret, noe som medfører at man bør behandle flasken med varsomhet før servering, slik at sedimentene ikke forstyrres. Brun har en fin fruktighet som er balansert opp mot god maltsødme. Anbefalt serveringstemperatur 8 grader C. La det bygge en skumtopp. Vi anbefaler Brun som en god kompanjong til vellagrede oster, alternativt ulike kjøttretter.

50cl bottle. Pours an opaque coffee colour with a decent head. The nose is chocolatey with a slight burnt coffee note. The taste is more of the same but the coffee is dominant this time. The palate is good - nice texture after a medium sized body and then cleans ok. Overall, yep another great reproduction of a style by Nogne. Is there any style they can’t do?

Pours a cloudy brown with a thin creamy white head. Smells of banana bread. Banana, yeast and malt in the mouth. Lighter than I expected.

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2011 bottle at home ... murky hazy brown ... thin lacing after bi foam head ... sweet banana toffee malt nose ... overfizzy ... deep roast ... again banana toffee ... some yeasyness and hint of candi suger... its more a german dark wheat than a belgian ... but im digging it anyway

On keg at Bacchus, Newcastle. Pours a hazel colour with a decent yellowish head. Typical Belgian dubbel aroma, fruity with blueberries, caramel, chocolate and yeast. Flavours of blueberries again, yeast, apple, barley and caramel. Light carbonation with a little CO2 prickle. Foamy mouth-feel. OK but a little thin.

Slightly hazy, dark amber body with a medium sized, fully lasting (at least when helped by my trappist chalice), off-white head. Excellent lacing. Nice aroma with fruity hoppiness: citric notes, mainly grapefruit. Also spices, caramel and a lightly toasted touch. The taste is light to medium sweet and light to medium bitter, with a medium bitter finish. Flavours are caramel, dark fruits and pleasantly warming alcohol. Medium body, medium carbonation, smooth texture and a wonderful aftertaste that has a fairly long duration. Nøgne Ø has done it again!

draft a blue monk. sort of a muddied brown pour. caramel malts, Belgian yeast, light fruitiness, light chocolate in the aroma. Taste was a watery muddled dubbel. Caramel notes, light earthiness, Belgian yeast driven fruit. Least favorite offering from Nogne

Sourish aroma has some belgian yeast, caramel, sugar and weak signals of contamination. Palate has lonts of carbonation hitting my tongue. Flavour is sourish with caramel and sugar. Some hints of contamination also here, but it does not disturb very much. Hard to decide if this is contaminated or is the sourness made in purpose. However, this was disappointment from Nøgne.
