2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Beerlando (3342) - Orlando, Florida, USA - OCT 26, 2010
Bottle, Batch #386, brewed on 07/10/2008, best by 07/10/2013, and consumed in 09/2010. The pour yields a lightly hazy, reddish-brown body with a frothy beige head. Wet, spotted lacing marks the glass. The nose is off with a capital ’O’, showing notes of menthol and tart cereal grain mash over a one dimensional, dried, brown sugar malt base. Flavors also give these minty, harsh menthol notes amidst a very unimpressive, soured grain and caramel sugar malt contingent. Something has gone horribly wrong here, for sure. Thin and watery, almost lifeless from a lack of carbonation, the palate would benefit from some bubbles and considerably more residual sugar. This was pretty bad. Almost undrinkable.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 bmeup (470) - Ormeau, AUSTRALIA - SEP 30, 2010
Reddish brown thick tight head. Quite sweet/fruity with some woody oak background. Nice hop balance. Just a little thin but very easy drinking tasty beer.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Maria (9570) - Thisted, DENMARK - SEP 11, 2010
It’s mahogany-red with a huge, creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel and nuts. The flavour has notes of roasted malt, karamel, licorice, a little nuts and the finish is dry with a touch of citrus – a nice beer indeed!
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 JorisPPattyn (7308) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - AUG 31, 2010
Small but persistent dark-creamcoloured head over beautiful red-brown beer. Bit sourish nose, superimposed upon dark, melanoidin-y malts and some buttery notes. Rosemary aroma. Rather dry, woody flavour, spicy, cacaopowder, and dried juniper or cypress branches. Medium bodied, bit watery but not too much. Little qua aftertaste. Nice, dry brown; spicy and light.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 gyllenbock (2967) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - AUG 12, 2010
Bottle.
Dark color, quite thick tan head. The aroma I would say was pretty mild, "Belgian" spices, yeast, some fruitiness, and "wood".
The taste was also quite mild, some sweetness, malt and spices. Medium body and carbonation. Nuts and burnt tones in the finish. Ok beer but not the most memorable experience.
