Tap at Paradiso Dupont. The pour is a muddy, murky deep brown with a thin white head. Really no head formation. Nose is pretty muted. Mild berries and fruit juice. Taste is similar- very thin fruit juice with prickly carbonation. Very odd. Goes quite chalky and intensely bitter with small cinnamon spice. But really odd. Perhaps over attenuated? Certainly inoffensive but really doesn’t bring forth a lot of discernible character. If given to me in a Juicy Juice box, I would probably not once stop to think if I had been secretly given beer.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Glouglouburp (5562) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 8, 2011
In short: A relatively heavy (for a 6% beer) nutty brown ale.
How: Bottle 500ml. Consumed relatively fresh a few weeks after receiving through private importation, a little more than 3 years before expiration date!!! A 6% brown ale with a 3+ years shelf time?!?!?
The look: Mostly clear dark brown body topped by a small beige head
In long: A bit of a gusher. Nose of tobacco leafs, toasted hazelnuts and some toffee. Taste has a lot of grainy malts, cookies, caramel, oily hazelnuts, commercial milk chocolate bar, creamy earthy toffee, chewing tobacco. Oily mouthfeel. That beer packs quite a hefty malted body for a 6% brew. Carbonation was a bit too much at first but I let the beer sit for 15 minutes and then it was fine. Overall this was a fine nourishing brown ale even if a bit on the oily side of things. Another decent beer. So many decent beers out there to drink. Too little time to drink them all. What would Jesus do I’m asking you, what would Jesus do? Probably try to feed the fish of my computer screen saver.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Hansen (5447) - Assentoft, DENMARK - JUL 21, 2012
Poffed out of the bottle, almost half of the beer ended on the table and floor. And I didn’t shake it. Dark brown, hazy. Has an off-white head, medium duration. Nice aroma, malty, caramel, soy-sauce. Flavor is starting malty sweet, complex notes, nuts, caramel, real nice. Creamy texture and soft carbonation.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 larsga (5325) - Oslo, NORWAY - JAN 18, 2009
Small beige head. Translucent deep dark red body with powerful carbonation. Fruity bubblegum aroma with burnt peppery brown sugar and lime notes. Vivid and interesting. Dryish fruity burnt strawberry taste, with a kind of sharpish edge to it, which doesn’t entirely suit the taste. Light body. Dryish herbal fruity burnt aftertaste. Nice, but not major. Highly drinkable. (0.5l bottle, Olympen, Oslo.)
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 KnutAlbert (5186) - Oslo, NORWAY - JAN 13, 2009
Bottle at home.
A very quaffable, malty Belgian style beer.
Cereals, a little sourness, but the very opposite of their extreme beers. This could easily be their regular draft beer,
easy drinking and pleasant.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 sayravai (4654) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JAN 7, 2012
(Bottled, rated 2011-06-16, Batch 586 (1.2.2011)) Somewhat hazy dark brown with a small, but lasting head. Candi-sugary-malty nose also presents some vegetably-sewery notes. Flavor is a bit better, with malty - although slightly worty - sourish and dried-fruity notes. Not even close to a real Belgian beer, though. Almost medium body, quite carbonated, slightly stingy. Either a bad bottle, or bad attempt to brew a Belgian beer.
