COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle. [Beer festival 2009] Small fizzy off-white head that mostly diminished. Spare display of lacework. Muddy brown color. Aroma of nutty, grainy, caramel, yeast, wood and some floral and flower like notes. Medium bodied with a soft carbonation and light dry texture. Moderated sweet flavor with some light bitterness. Light dry bitter finish.

500 ml bottle @ Olutravintola Pikkulintu. Brygget 01.02.2011, BBE 01.02.2014. Batch #586.
Pours a reddish brown colour with a white foamy head, mainly on the edges. Aroma of mild sour fruits, nuts and some citrus. Flavour of citrus, dried fruits, toasted malts and toffee. Medium bodied with a thick mouthfeel and a dry, fruity finish. Pleasant but quite far from your favourite Belgian Ale.

Boutip (3971) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 8, 2011
Bottle: Poured a dark brown color ale with a nice foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of candi sugar and dark caramel malt with light dry raisins. Taste is a nice mix between some candi sugars with dark Belgian malt with light fruity ester with dry raisins notes. Body is quite full with good carbonation and some good lacing. Very well brewed and more complex then I had anticipated.

50 cl bottle @ Olutravintola Konttori. #586: brygget 010211, BBE 010214
Sourish aroma has some belgian yeast, caramel, sugar and weak signals of contamination. Palate has lonts of carbonation hitting my tongue. Flavour is sourish with caramel and sugar. Some hints of contamination also here, but it does not disturb very much. Hard to decide if this is contaminated or is the sourness made in purpose. However, this was disappointment from Nøgne.

500 ml bottle. Thanks to Dugge here. Dark brown colour, with low head, in fact only bubbles, that diminishes quickly. Chocolatey, ashy phenols in aroma. Very smooth, delicate mouthfeel, with ashy phenols, little fruitiness and chocolate. Solid beer with ashiness being most prominent. The Belgian yeast is of course a very good backbone here, giving it profile to the taste. Prety good attenuation here, making it pretty good dry. Not a fan of dubbels.

Bottle, 50cl. Pours a clear and dark brown beer with a beige head. The aroma is malt, caramel, some ash, notes of fruit and chocolate. The flavor is close to the nose with some additional nut. The palate is sweetness. Overall an average beer.

Beer3000 (3719) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - AUG 30, 2009
500 ml bottle. Dark brown body with a small, dense, beige head. Aroma of caramel, malt, brown sugar, spices and notes of fruit and nuts. Flavor of sweet malt, roasted caramel, dry fruit and spices with a fine bitter finish. A smooth and easy drinkable beer with a medium body and a richer flavor than first impression might indicate. A sweet and almost woody/roasted malt flavor gives some Belgium association, but this might be something between a brown ale and a Belgium Brune.
