3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle @Beer Hunters
Dark opaque black color, small brown head. Alcohol, sweet syrup, coffee, dark malts - similar to some other DHs. Quite sweet, but not overly sweet. Full-bodied. Roasted malty, coffeish. Much more drinkable than DH3, but still this is not outstanding beer like DH1. Straightforward, could be more complex for this ABV.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Black as night with a tiny dark brown head. Aroma of burnt sugar, bitter coffee. Surprisingly light mouthfeel, with a balanced alcohol taste. A bit disappointing mid- to aftertaste. Coffee notes are of high quality.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Proof. Pitch black pour with a small brown head. Aroma presents dark roasted malts, pressed coffee, soy sauce, and light cooked green vegetables. Flavor is thick, silky and similar with soy, dry salted chocolate with blanched vegetables. Rich, slightly syrupy mouth with extremely well hidden booze. Pretty nice.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Black pour, with a small dark tan head. Sugary, chocolate, licorice, burnt coffee, soy sauce, roasted malt, and molasses. The beer has a sugary suspension, making the mouth feel almost gritty from the dissolved sugar. A little boozy, but still pretty hidden considering the high abv.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours an opaque black from the bottle with a thin ring of tan brown head. Aroma is booze, sugar sweetness, dark chocolate and molasses. Taste follows, really sweet, chocolate and burnt coffee in the middle, then a nice boozy burn on the way down. Thick and syrupy sweet on the mouth. Solid, not sure if aging would help but we’ll try it out.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Medium high creamy and lasting brown head. Indeed a black body. First impression of the aroma is unfortunately that of alcohol. Quickly coffree and choccolate follows. Relatively bitter flavor on a rock solid roasted malt base with smooth and creamy choccolate and coffee. Low carbonation. Long dry and bitter finish and again alcohol. I wish I had the character strength to store some bottles as I am sure the beer would be much nicer without the too dominant alcohol.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
25 cl, bottled. Brewed 22.08.12. Pours black with a creamy light brown head. Aroma: Licorice, roasted malt. Mild alcohol component. Some distant coffee in smell. Taste: Quite sweet and it’s lingering, roasted bitterness. Coffee flavours, chocolate. Full malty flavours. Palate: Full bodied, creamy body. Pleasant roasted bitterness at the end. Alcohol is well hidden considering the volume percent of alcohol, and it’s not bothering. Very pleasant.
