COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
There is so much fun involved in creating Dark Horizon. Once it ferments, everyone in the brewery are very enthusiastic and pay close attention. Is the yeast still active? Is everything OK? How does the flavours evolve? Dark Horizon is normally dark and velvety. Muscovado sugars provides good fruity aromas. The coffee is a chapter on its own. The green beans will first be treated alfa amylase, an enzyme brewers enjoy working with. Then we mash the green beans before drying and roasting them. This gives it the unique flavor Dark Horizon deserves. Share Dark Horizon with someone you think deserves it.

Been saving this for a few months, but figured now is as good a time as any. Dominated by coffee notes, but not like normal coffee - almost an herbal coffee flavor I suppose it could be called. Surprisingly light-bodied for a beer of this ABV, and the alcohol is barely noticeable. An interesting and very good beer from Nogne O.

Today its exactly two years since DH4 was brewed, and what better way to celebrate its birthday than to open a bottle? It pours a pitch black body with a small, medium brown, short-lived head that soon reduces to a partially covering film, plus a thin ring of foam along the walls of the glass. The aroma is very strong, dark roasted and malty with delicious notes of dark caramel, dark chocolate, coffee, brown sugar and liquorice. The strong flavour follows the aroma, but with far less liquorice and with additional hints of something... eh... green, raw and vegetal? The 16% ABV is not exactly hidden, but the alcohol is masterly integrated and makes the finish pleasantly warming. The taste is pretty heavy sweet and the long-lasting finish is heavy bitter. The beer feels full on the palate with a smooth oily texture and very soft carbonation. A truly wonderful beer that Im looking forward to trying again after a couple of more years in my beer cellar.

Black oily pour with little to no light tan head .... Can tell this is oily and thick just by looks ... Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted, light coffee, licorice, oily dark fruits and boozy .... Taste has a hint of smoke, dark chocolate, roasted, licorice, light coffee, oak, bit boozy, dark fruits and very dry .... Has a bit bitter bite on the back end with booze ... Decent stuff for the abv

Black colour with a tiny light brown head. Dark sweetness, roasted malt, mild alcohol, some mild bitter notes and sugary notes in the aroma. The flavour is very strong and a bit raw. Harsh yeastiness, roasted malt, bitterness, alcohol, lots of sugary sweetness and even some boozy notes in the flavour. 16% is not self-evident but the alcohol is clearly there. Im feeling dizzy. Maybe a bit over the top.

Olut kaatuu mustana lasiin muodostaen tumman beigen ja mrltn vhisen vaahdon. Tuoksusta lytyy lakritsia, paahtunutta mallasta, salmiakkia, savua ja makeita elementtej. Maku osoittautuu tervaiseksi, makeaksi, paahtuneeksi ja lakritsiseksi. Hienoin elementti maussa lienee kuitenkin pieni vivahde tummaa, kitker suklaata.

Black with a non retaining espresso coloured head. Aroma has dark chocolate, coffee and alcoholic fumes. Taste is very well balanced between roasted malt and sweetness, it also has coffee, dark bitter chocolate and some liquorice. Alcohol is very well hidden. Full bodied with low and soft carbonation, mouth feel is very smooth. After taste is bitter with warming alcohol.
Very smooth and well balanced, alcohol is well hidden but I expected a bit more bang for the buck both aroma- and taste-wise.

Thanks to errl for sharing this bottle. Dark brown pour with a tan head. The aroma is full of chocolate and roasted malt with some coffee thrown in. The coffee is very prominent in the flavor with some roasted malt and cream notes. This also has something in the flavor that I cant identify, but I always associate with stouts from Denmark and Norway. Thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Dark. Aroma is dark fruits, sweet nectar. Taste is the same with a pudding quality to the flavours. Sugary sweet finish. Not my kind of imperial stout. And the coffee added is non-existent on the palate.
