COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
There is so much fun involved in creating Dark Horizon. Once it ferments, everyone in the brewery are very enthusiastic and pay close attention. Is the yeast still active? Is everything OK? How does the flavours evolve? Dark Horizon is normally dark and velvety. Muscovado sugars provides good fruity aromas. The coffee is a chapter on its own. The green beans will first be treated alfa amylase, an enzyme brewers enjoy working with. Then we mash the green beans before drying and roasting them. This gives it the unique flavor Dark Horizon deserves. Share Dark Horizon with someone you think deserves it.

Jet black pour with a small tan head. Aromas of roasted coffee, cocoa, and notes of anise. Flavor is roasted malts with lots of coffee. Notes of molasses and dark fruits as well. Really complex brew. Slightly warming in the finish from the abv but you’d never guess it was 16% Really great beer.

Bottle, just over a year old, nicely packaged in purple paper. Poured into a snifter. Fairly thick pour with a small dark brown head. Smell is quite sharp, alcohol and vegetable, coffee really takes a backseat. Mouthfeel is medium - not quite as big as expected and a bit foamy. Taste is again quite sharp, coffee comes out a little, yeast, alcohol is noticeable. An OK imperial stout.

Scopey (8365) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 22, 2013
Bottle at Bruce’s, big thanks Colin. It pours dark brown with a small tan head. The nose is rich roast, coconut, vanilla, wood, boozy chocolate and coffee. The taste is bitter-sweet, rich roast, earth, cocoa, dark fruit, spice, wood and coffee with a dry, roasty finish. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Slick, rich and surprisingly drinkable given the abv. Mighty decent.

250mL thanks to womencantsail and the Norwegian RB crew. Ink pour with minimal Martian red foam. Nose is bitter cocoa, hazelnut liquor, waxy black crayon, salty and savory. Taste is spicy, sweet, hazelnut, sharper liquor. Paper in the palate distracts.

Pours jet black color with a minimal head. Aroma of licorice, roasted malts, some tar, faint syrup and soy, distant hop notes and cocoa. Flavor of cocoa, dark chocolate, dark berries, vanilla, bourbon, licorice and some tar. Somewhat creamy palate with a bitter malty finish. Somewhat disappointing.

250 ml bottle @ RIP camp.
Pours a pitch black colour with a small faint head. Aroma of soy sauce, roasted malts, herbal notes and wood. Flavour of roasted malts, soy sauce, salty licorice, dark chocolate, wood, mild coffee notes, sweet residual sugar, raisins and muffins. Full bodied, oily mouthfeel and a sweet, roasty, slightly bitter finish. Still way too sweet, but not as sweet as DH3. Oh well.
