COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
There is so much fun involved in creating Dark Horizon. Once it ferments, everyone in the brewery are very enthusiastic and pay close attention. Is the yeast still active? Is everything OK? How does the flavours evolve? Dark Horizon is normally dark and velvety. Muscovado sugars provides good fruity aromas. The coffee is a chapter on its own. The green beans will first be treated alfa amylase, an enzyme brewers enjoy working with. Then we mash the green beans before drying and roasting them. This gives it the unique flavor Dark Horizon deserves. Share Dark Horizon with someone you think deserves it.

Nip bottle. Poured inky black with a dusting of dark tan head. The aroma picked up a heavy blend of dark fruits, brown sugar, peppery rye, and fresh, greener coffee beans.. alcohol warmth certainly warmed up the nose, but it didn’t get in the way.. well done. The flavor opened with fresh black pepper and roasty, slightly sour coffee beans.. licorice, coffee, and roasted dark grains on the middle.. touches of vanilla, oak, and stone fruit on the edges.. finished peppery and warm, with syrupy coffee and tasty dark fruit.. warmed up the belly quickly. Heavy-bodied with low-ish carbonation on the palate.. syrupy.. this was really good.

Bottle from Beer Revolution. Pours dark brown with a tiny tan head and a pleasantly strange aroma that seems to have some treacle, a bit of coffee and some dark fruit. There is a rich almost indescribable flavor with extremely dark molasses, sugar, maybe coffee, dark fruit and who knows what else. delicious.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours very dark brown with tan bubbles. Aroma is sort of alcohol and treacle. With fruit and heat burn on the tongue. Develops some coffee. Finishes not quite dry and somewhat bitter. Flavors are strong, simple, yet hard to describe.

250 ml bottle. Black, with a thin brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, liquorice, coffee and dark fruits. The flavour is sweetish, roasted malty, with liquorice and coffee, and fruity, port-like notes. Herbal hops and warming alcohol in the finish. Complex and very enjoyable.

Svart öl med mörk brunt skum som snabbt försvinner. Doft: Vin, kaffe, kakao, torkad frukt, alkohol, lite lite rök. Smak: Mörk choklad, kaffe, frukt, apelsin choklad, sött vin, frukt, brago och havre. Otroligt rund och fin, underbar.

Bottle, batch #857/858, BBE 22/08/22. Pours jet black with a small, dark mocha-colored head. Aroma is a lot of roast and coffee. Mostly that really. Some salty liquorice and soy sauce, a light touch of smoke, it is so roasted. Taste is a lot of roast and coffee, semi sweet, loads of liquorice, strong and full. Sweetish liquorice. Full and somewhat oily, quite a bit of carbonation for a beer this strong. No trace of the alcohol anywhere really.

Turboninja (468) - Tampere, FINLAND - NOV 2, 2013
Sharp aroma lead by licorice and salty licorice. Also smoke, tar, coffee and a bit of vinegar and malts. Black color with light brown head. Taste is dominated with licorice and salty licorice, but there are also clear flavors of coffee, plum and malts. No roasted flavors, but alcohol comes trough and amplifies already sharp taste. Wide taste spectrum and long, dry and malty aftertaste. Alcohol warms stomach nicely. Bull bodied, thick palate. Moderate carbonation really suits for this beer. Overall a reference-class stout with a bit too edgy character.

On tap at Beer 13, Oslo. Seducingly easy drinking. Intense tar, molasses, alcohol, smoke. Open, mature, no need to do antyhing more with this.

Bottle from Beermongers. Poured into snifter. A: Opaque black that seems like someone dyed milk with ink. Mocha head that disippates. Great lacing. N: Rye read, lactose, coffee, dark chocolate, burnt brown sugars, noticeable green bean smell. Prune, soy, anise. Alcohol wafts out of this, too. A little frightening. T: Very flavorful. Lots and lots of sugars and chocolate sweetness. Bitterness and char back up the intense malt. Touch of salt/soy. M: Very syrupy and coating. Alcohol is suprisingly well hidden considering its presence in the nose. O: Very well done. This is huge, but it shows enough restraint to remain drinkable and enjoyable. Does a far better job of taking this over the top than other beers like Dark Lord or Black Tuesday.
