3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
So sort of my Birthday beer..didn’t want to crack this thing mid week. Black glug glug viscous motor oil pour with tan head, jesus..this stuff is aromatic, coffee, dark fruit, more dark fruit, roasted malts, dark fruit... a lot of dark fruit, kind of reminds me of dark lord (record for using the word dark in a rating..check). Taste holy hell..this is a big beer..massive flavour of coffee, marshmallow sweetness but not cloying at least not for me, sherry like undertones, lots of dark fruit (surprise surprise) but where is the booze? There is some warmth after the fact but for 16% its pretty subtle..dangerous beer. To summarize a big sweet decadent mean son of gun that hides the abv better than the US hockey team hid their disappointment of loosing to Canada in back to back Olympics..schwing!

250ml bottle pours black in color with a small light brown head that only leaves a few specks of lacing on the glass. Aroma is roasted grains and coffee with some dark fruits, perhaps figs or prunes. Taste is dark fruit and malty sweetness with a roasted grain and coffee bitterness with a pronounced alcohol burn in the finish. Medium to heavy body with light carbonation. Quite an interesting imperial stout which is definitely worth trying once.

This is a beer to savour. Rich and full bodied stout that while having some heat (understandably) is a pleasure to drink. The more I sit and contemplate the higher the score is going. Another fantastic beer from Nogne.

A very nice stout where the coffee doesn’t overwhelm all the other components of the beer. Not a lot to say beyond that, it’s got a fudgy character to it and is surprisingly very easy to drink for a Stout above 10% let alone 15% ABV.

Pours totally black with a dark brown head. Aroma is malt, chocolate, coffee, dark fruits, caramel and roastiness. Taste is medium to high sweet leading to a big roasty, bitter and boozy finish. Not much burn considering it’s 16%!! Bloody amazing!

A great color. Deep amber
T good barley wine flavor, smooth, hops add American hops citrus without bitterness
M about what you'd expect
O I don't typically go for barley wine, but this was very smooth and easy to drink. I'd like another.

Bottle - Dark fruit, dark roast beans, oaky sweetness. Jet black with a thin brown head. An earthy roast, spicy, bitter astringency, chocolate, espresso and tons more. This just rocks, with none of the big abv. Thankfully this is a small bottle or I would be trashed.

Bottled. Pours black with a small, creamy head with fair lacings Aroma of roasted malt, licorice notes, coffee and chocolate. Sweet flavour that ends up with some bitterness. Full bodied, oily to syrupy text. and flat carb. An excellent sipper.
