COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
There is so much fun involved in creating Dark Horizon. Once it ferments, everyone in the brewery are very enthusiastic and pay close attention. Is the yeast still active? Is everything OK? How does the flavours evolve? Dark Horizon is normally dark and velvety. Muscovado sugars provides good fruity aromas. The coffee is a chapter on its own. The green beans will first be treated alfa amylase, an enzyme brewers enjoy working with. Then we mash the green beans before drying and roasting them. This gives it the unique flavor Dark Horizon deserves. Share Dark Horizon with someone you think deserves it.

Pours pitch black, with a very small beige head that fizzes away abruptly. Aroma of coffee and burnt malts, but dominated by sweet dark fruits and alcohol. Pretty good mouthfeel, with a flavour of roasted malt, coffee, but also very sweet and a hint of alcohol in the finish. Aftertaste has some lingering dark coffee notes, quite nice actually. It’s very good by all means, but the Dark Horizon has near legendary status and this wasn’t really all the way there. A couple of years in the cellar might do the trick though.

From bottle @ The Festival (Portland). Black with a small beige head and some lacing. Aroma is of intense roasted malt along with dark fruits (plums, raisins), chocolate and alcohol. Taste is moderately sweet with dark fruits, roasted malt, raisins, chocolate, caramel, alcohol and light bitter finish. Medium body. Average carbonation. Alcohol is really well hidden considering the 16% abv (didn’t noticed it was that high until a couple minutes ago). Good complex RIS.

Bottle. Pours black with a beige head. Notes of burned sugar, heavy coffee and toasted marshmallows in the aroma. Tastes a lot of alcohol (in a good way. Also notes of licorice, burned sugar and coffee. Still very young, but there sure is potential in this beer.

Bottle from Den Nordiske Ölhandel, Copenhagen. Pours black with a small brown head. Big brew, lots of chcolate, coffee and figs. Alcoholic but more like a liqour with body than just plain boozy. Will probably gain from beeing cellard for a year or two.

Bottle. Almost black, stable, but small, light brown head. Roasted coffee aroma with hints of berries. Delicious chocolate, blending with acidic and fruity roasted coffee. Even hints of marcipane. Full-bodied with good acidity. State-of-the-art.

Bra at feriepengene kom i dag, strategiske støttekjøp i morgen! Notert på Cardinaltreff des-13: sterk og harmonisk, kanskje finnes der en gud allikevel?

UPDATED: OCT 26, 2013 A black beer with a brown and small head. Aroma of strong roastiness, lots of salt liquirice, liquirice, hint of strawberriws and alcohol. Taste of roasted malts, lots of black coffee, salt liquirice, at least medium sweetness, some berries. Overally, the taste is balanced, in the aftertaste there are also liquirice, herbs, strong bitterness dries the mouth, no alcohol. Full bodied, low carbonation, not sticky. Powerfull, balanced and quite complex, the great beer.
