COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
There is so much fun involved in creating Dark Horizon. Once it ferments, everyone in the brewery are very enthusiastic and pay close attention. Is the yeast still active? Is everything OK? How does the flavours evolve? Dark Horizon is normally dark and velvety. Muscovado sugars provides good fruity aromas. The coffee is a chapter on its own. The green beans will first be treated alfa amylase, an enzyme brewers enjoy working with. Then we mash the green beans before drying and roasting them. This gives it the unique flavor Dark Horizon deserves. Share Dark Horizon with someone you think deserves it.

Pours nearly black. Close to no head. Very thick body. Ok carbonation. Alcohol, plum, malt, hop, dark fruit, coffee, dark chocolate aroma. Bitter. Complex, warming and maybe over the top. Needs to be served quite tempered.

Pitch black with mocha head. Aroma contains roasted coffee, chocolate, dark fruits and raisins. Taste contains the same roasted notes of coffee, chocolate, raisins, plums and liquorice. Warming alcohol. Might need a little ageing before it’s perfect.

Tung pjäs. Passar inte riktigt just nu bland alla rariteter med subtila toner. Men nog är den bra. Lite väl med alkohol kanske..

Bottle, courtesy of the brewery - thanks Cathie! :-) Ah, the 4th installment in the DH series - much awaited as always. A return to the past, they say; let’s see for myself. Pours a deep black body with a medium foamy caramel-hued head. Aroma is roasted coffee beans, honey, brown sugar, licorice, alcohol and hints of leather and sweet caramel. Thick and quite lovely. Taste is sharp alcohol up front, then chocolate and coffee before loads of sweet licorice, leather and hints of ashes and mild herbs coat my palate. Aftertaste is cough syrup and something thick and vegetable-ish, perhaps the green beans at work? Thick and velvety mouthfeel, moderate carbonation. A bit sweet perhaps, and also slightly rough around the edges, though very smooth compared to others in the same (heavyweight) class. A successful new version of this famous series, but not quite as good as the first two editions. This might change with a bit of aging though, as I do suspect a certain "uncut diamond"-factor at play here. In any case, well brewed. :-)

Bottle from Vinmonopolet Storo enjoyed at home
Pours black with 1 cm tanned head. Smells of coffee, dark fruits, roast and toast. Heavy sweet, a real coffee bomb, roasty malts, muscavo sugar, caramel, hints of alcohol. Medium bitter finish, some hops. A bit raw still; very nice coffee flavors. I like it alot; and will try another bottle in halv a year or so. So far a good beer but not legend material
