There is so much fun involved in creating Dark Horizon. Once it ferments, everyone in the brewery are very enthusiastic and pay close attention. Is the yeast still active? Is everything OK? How does the flavours evolve? Dark Horizon is normally dark and velvety. Muscovado sugars provides good fruity aromas. The coffee is a chapter on its own. The green beans will first be treated alfa amylase, an enzyme brewers enjoy working with. Then we mash the green beans before drying and roasting them. This gives it the unique flavor Dark Horizon deserves. Share Dark Horizon with someone you think deserves it.

Scent of syrup, dark chocolate, coffee. The taste strong, not too dry and taste of coffee with dark chocolate in. A little sweetness also in taste. The aftertaste is good of roasted malt. An impressive beer to drink but I probably would not drink it again. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Bottle at Pikkulintu. Black color, minimal beige head. Bittersweet taste with chocolate, ripe fruits, liquorice, a bit of alcohol, coffee and nuts. Bittersweet finish with ripe fruits, liquorice and alcohol. Excellent high ABV imperial stout, might be even better with aging as the alcohol still stings a bit.

25cl bottle @kaisla. Black color, thin brown head. Licorice, wood, roasted malt, vanilla. Full bodied, smooth. Flavor has coffee, wood, roastedness, vanilla and rum like sweetness. Long smooth, vanilla finish with slight alcohol warmthness. Incredible beer.

Bottle: Dark as the night, brown head. Aroma is dominated of coffee, dark chcolate. sirup, brown sugar, and vanilla. Flavor has almost the same, complexed mixed mouthfeeling, of coffee, dark choclate, vanilla, portvine, vanilla. Big body long dry mixed finish of coffee and dark choclate and fruits. Werry nice complexed IMPY.

Bottle from Belmont Station, Portland. Pours a very dark black, little bit of tan head. Aroma roasty and almost fruity, muscovado burnt sweetness. Body roasty, smooth not nearly as hot as one would expect. Finish slightly roasty incredibly smooth, really.

Tiny 8/5 oz. bottle wrapped in a gorgeous royal violet wrapping paper that would have made my wife cream her jeans in its exquisiteness. The box is a great triangular box, with some hieroglyphic looking markings which may spell out the secrets of the universe (one can only hope). Anyway, enough of the bullshit and on to the rating. The pour is thick, rich, jet black, absolutely NO light coming through this baby. The nose is an intense medley of roast molasses-y dark malt, hops, cacao, coffee, walnut, blackberry. Tastes rich, intense in flavor, with roasty charred choc malt flavors, hops, blackberry, cacao, mild coffee, molasses, and a very smooth finish for a beer this big. I’d buy this by the fifth if I could. WOw, what a beer, and thanks to Nogne O for providing a beer worthy of Doc Lock’s 7,000th rating. Cheers, and Ba Ba Booey to y’all.

Nip bottle at home from drinkstore
pricey but I’ve now tried the dark Tokyo horizon trinity
pours a fizzy dark brown with lacing of tan head. Aroma begins with balsamic vinegar, mouldy barrels, roast barley, dry toast finishing with a tart but sweet kriek like note. Very rich in body with medium carbonation and an initial creamy wheaty note. Very warming on the swallow with red berries, plenty of booze, sweet malt, tongue numbing developing through a spectrum to a molasses finish, remaining warming even in the stomachs, but leaving an ashen coffee on the tongue. It sits somewhere on the midpoint between mikkeller’s luxuriance and brewdog’s fruity bitterness but unfortunately flavour doesn’t quite deliver what nose promises. Nevertheless a tasty drop but I’d prefer to have spent the money on mikkeller black. Other opinions are valid.
