There is so much fun involved in creating Dark Horizon. Once it ferments, everyone in the brewery are very enthusiastic and pay close attention. Is the yeast still active? Is everything OK? How does the flavours evolve? Dark Horizon is normally dark and velvety. Muscovado sugars provides good fruity aromas. The coffee is a chapter on its own. The green beans will first be treated alfa amylase, an enzyme brewers enjoy working with. Then we mash the green beans before drying and roasting them. This gives it the unique flavor Dark Horizon deserves. Share Dark Horizon with someone you think deserves it.

From a 250ml bottle on 24/5/2014 (batch number 857/858). Pours close to black with a tiny deep tan head. The aroma is fruity and boozy with subtle chocolate notes. Flavour wise this is a powerhouse - sweet dark fruit (prunes, dates cherries), milk and dark chocolate, roasty espresso, nuts, vanilla, a touch of soy and some warming alcohol. Damn this is complex in the mouth - very sweet and dessert like, but with lots of good counterbalancing dry, roasty hop bitterness. Chocolate is the dominating feature but there’s a whole lot more going on as well. Has a thick, rich, velvety palate and modest carbonation. You know you’re not drinking a light beer but it drinks surprising easily for 16%. This is a fantastic sweet impy.

Black with no head. Aroma is dark, dried fruit, dark malt and booze. Taste is coffee, dark dried fruit, a little chocolate and again, booze. The taste is quite intense and explodes on your tongue, but the ABV is a bit too obvious for my tastes. Still, an excellent stout.

Expensive but worth it. Not a regular coffee drinker, but appreciate it. Dark with light head. Smooth above-average mouthfeel. Coffee and herbal aroma. Dark thick chocolate. Hop bitterness in finish.Something rich and special.

330 ml on tap @ Haandverkerstuene, Oslo. With a nice matured aquavit as a side drink. May 07, 2014. Beer from a snifter glass. Asphalt black in color with a thin brown head and low carbonation. Oily look. Sweet smell up front. Aroma is malt, dark sugar, dark dried fruits, soy sauce, coffee and some alcohol. A very nice avec beer. The beer was better and better for every sip.

On tap at Bishops Arms Gustav. I’m always shocked but the complexity in flavour these beers offer, really a benchmark-beer for imperial-stouts and that’s no small achievement. Dark chocolate and coffee, with some sweet caramel and loads of dried dark sweet fruits, a hint of herbs.

Had at tasting at local bar. Color is dark with a nice tan head. Aroma is light but chocolate is most dominant. I feel the raisins/prunes came out nicely in the taste. Another great high alcohol beer to sip on.
