Bottle via SL... Dark in color... good head. Nose of coffee and roasted malts... Taste follows the nose. Roasted malts, coffee, bittering hops. Well balanced. Alcohol hidden well. Definelty well balanced, more so than DH 1. Medium body. Overall: Nice Impy stout!

Bottle shared by esp0r, september 28th 2012. Thanks man!!! Pitch black body, with a tiny light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, soy sauce and light alcohol. Not much considering the strength. Thick oily body, sweet and intense bitter taste, licorice, roasted malt, chocolate. Warm bitter finish with malt sugars. As good as expected, though I’m happy the later editions come in 0,25l bottles and not this 0,5l killer bottle.

In short: A brutal over-boozy over-roasted black beer that burns your throat. Bad
How: Bottle 500ml. Consumed when approximately 3 years of age, because no way I’m drinking a 16% beer without some maturation time
The look: Black body topped by a persistent very small tan head
In long: Nose is alcohol heat, burnt cereals that bring light smoky notes, some phenols, something that resembles anise. An overall ‘hotness’ in the aroma. Taste is brutal, alcohol burning the tongue, extremely harsh roastiness that feels like drinking ashes, throwing a burning charcoal down your throat, chewing on hospital gloves, rubbing alcohol on your lips, chewing on a star anise, concentrated coffee, metallic undertones… Even the carbonation is aggressive. Jesus f**ken Christ, this is brutal, my mouth is on fire. Awful beer. I don’t know why I bought this beer, and I find tell myself “what the fuck was I thinking?” way too many times every day for someone who is still alive.

Bottle shared by me at the daje & esp0r hits #1000 rates sessions. Strangely i had to go to Denmark to find this one
Black with a small tanned head. SMells of coffee, soy sauce, chocolate and roasted malts. Heavy sweet, quite vinous. Alot of coffee and roasted malt flavors, thick sticky texture, some alcohol as well. Heavy bitter, coffee, earth and liquorice. A quite nice beer, can’t believe it’s so strong. The search for DH1 will continue...

VsXsV (1896) - Linköping, SWEDEN - OCT 8, 2012
Bottle at Stockholm Beer and Whiskey Festival 2012. Opaque black liquid with small tan head. Aroma of bourbon, oak, booze, chocolate, ash and licorice. Taste is light sweet and light to medium bitter with notes of biscuit, fresh coffee and chocolate. Full bodied with low to medium carbonation. Better than DH3.

Bottle, I think it was actually 17.5% abv. Oily black pour, practically zero head. Low carbonation, which isn’t suprising due to the strength and age of this beer. Mollasses, burnt dark sugars, prune, raisin, and heavy booze. The alcohol is very strong. Pretty good if you can get past the burn, a sipper for sure.
