Aroma of roasted malt, burning alcohol, charred wood, and tar. Flavor of roasted malt, alcohol, black licorice, and coffee. Fairly smooth compared to the fresh First Edition. Will rate again in about 10 years.

(2/2012) bottle. I remember this being quite oaky. Otherwise yet another nice RIS from nögne. I’m actually surprised at the low score. But, it was during a RIS tasting so I guess I could afford to be picky.

Bottle (50cl). Brewed 2007, consumed 2013. Pitch black colour. Finger-thick dark beige head that reduces to a stable ring. Boozy swirl, no lacing. Impressive, complex semi-sweet aroma of roasted malt, smoked wood, soy sauce, balsamico, coffee, licorice. Full body, flat carbonation. Rich and fairly dry, woody taste with a balsamico-like acidity that grows towards the finish. This is well balanced by a modest sweetness and some saltiness, but it veers just a bit too much in the acidic direction for full marks. Long malty salty-acidic aftertaste.

Lagrad åtminstone tre år. Smak och doft av choklad, humle, kaffe. Krämig och lång och trevlig eftersmak. Fin beska.

Fått denne på måltid i agder noen ganger. Monsterøl. Ble servert litt for kald, nydelig når tempen er 13-14 grader. Flott fylde, herlig og kompleks snak av blant annet sjokolade og kaffe

Pours black and viscous. Aroma is sweet caramel, vanilla and chocolate. Taste is sweet with vanilla. Full bodied and slick. Really nice!

Brygd 2007. Flaska från SB, Norge-provning. Ganska svag men rå doft. Metall, olja, lakrits och alkohol. Mycket alkohol, ganska torr, stram och rå, hårdrostad, lakrits, riktigt torr mörk choklad, soja, oljig, måttlig beska. Ett rått maffigt öl att dricka i små doser.

Tydlig doft av lakrits och kaffe. Påminner mycket om rödvin, vilket verkligen inte är något negativt.

0,5 l bottle. Poured pitch black, minimal reddish head that disappeared quickly. Strong aroma of ash, dark chocolate, molasse, cocoa, burnt wood, dead fallen leaves. Very strong body, well hidden alcohol.

Bottle via SL... Dark in color... good head. Nose of coffee and roasted malts... Taste follows the nose. Roasted malts, coffee, bittering hops. Well balanced. Alcohol hidden well. Definelty well balanced, more so than DH 1. Medium body. Overall: Nice Impy stout!
