Like sherry with heavy dark fruit tone and aroma with a dry envelope surrounding it which seems to have an almost sticky burnt character to it.

Bottle from mane liquor. Cheers once again josh! Sexy jet black pour with a small tanned head. Awesome lacing left clinging to the glass. Nose has vanilla, oak, chocolate and dark fruits. The taste brings out the coffee notes with a large sweetness about it. Almost a candied type toffee sugariness about it. Because of the sweetness the booze isn’t overly noticed...which is something I’ve come to expect from nogne o. This is an exceptional beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

020313. Bottle at home. Pours black with almost no head. Oily texture. Aroma roasted malts, coffee, licorice. Strong sweet taste, still after a year or so. Needs more aging. Not Bad.

250ml bottle. Pours pitch black, with a thin brown head. Huge aroma, roasted malt, coffee, licorice, dark chocolate, tar, ashes. Sweet, full bodied, high bitterness, creamy CO2. Thick, complex taste, coffee, roasted malt, figs, chocolate, licorice. Sugary, thick mouthfeel, almost like a PX Sherry. Quite compact at this stage, I wish I had another bottle for further cellaring. (2013-02-23)

25 cl bottle @ home. Batch #373: bottled 03.07.2009, BBE 03.07.2018
Aroma is somwehat stale with licorice, rubber, alcohol and hay. Flavour is slightly sweet with ripe fruits, coffee, licorice, some alcohol and syrup. Also some herbal notes in the dinish. This used to be sweet, hoppy and messy. Now this is just sweet with too much alcohol.

neuromatt (1016) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 23, 2013
250 mL bottle from Beverages 4 Less in Santee California, served in a stem glass alongside Black Tokyo Horizon and its other constituent beers at a tasting with Chris. Pours black with virtually no head. The nose has huge coffee and big smoke, along with herbs, anise, roasted malts and a touch of earth. The flavour is big, sweet molasses with lots of coffee, herbs, and a hint of smoke. The finish is long and herbal with roasted malts, a touch of pepper and a hint of smoke. On the palate, it is full in body with a smooth, syrupy texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a nice sweet coffee stout; it has perhaps a bit too much sweetness, but is excellent overall. 2013-01-25

Opaque black - brown beer. Decent bubbly tan head. Smooth and semi dry palate. Sweet rich coffee with real depth. Whisper of red fruits and chocolate. Semi dry finish. Rich and tasty, hides the alcohol quite well.

Bottle. Pours oily black. Quickly dissipating tan head. Nose and taste of sweet chocolate, coffee beans, fresh coffee, oak, vanilla, coffee liqueur and dark fruits. Lots of coffee. Alcohol in the finish, but not overpowering. One of the more coffee forward imperial stouts I’ve had. Medium body.

Svesse (5845) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - FEB 10, 2013
(Bottle) Black colour, with hints of ruby when seen through light. Foamy beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of sweet espresso, liquorice, soy sauce, molasses and dark rye bread. Malty, roasted taste with liquorice, molasses, burnt sugar, sweet espresso, cacao, a touch of sweet PX sherry, black rye bread and a sweet finish with a warming touch of alcohol and a hint of tar. Full body, quite sweet. Actually a touch too sweet. The even stronger second edition was actually more balanced and probably less sweet, but this is still quite a nice beer.

Bathory (458) - Bryne, NORWAY - FEB 9, 2013
Dark colour with almost no head due to the alcohol level. Massive aroma of licorice, dark chocolate, alcohol. Flavour is sweet, almost portwineish. Malts, candy, oak, coffee. Intense flavour. Full bodied, long sweet aftertaste with low carbonation. Way too sweet for me, but a interresting beer.
