Sampled in a bottle. Aged for two years. The coffe flavor is very good however the beer feels more like a malted coffee drink than an imperial stout with coffee accents.

Bottle share. Thanks GothGargoyle! Pours a clear, deep burnt amber. Aroma of green pepper, alcohol, muted dark fruit, wet coffee. Taste is dank sweetness, an odd sourness.

250 ml bottle thanks to Gunnar. Black as night body with dark brown head. Aromas of milk chocolate, liquorice, some coffee and alcohol. Taste is pretty sweet, maybe sweeter than the other vintage versions, with milk chocolate, vanilla, liquorice, some oak, maybe some dark fruits and coffee. Sweet aftertaste, pretty sticky mouthfeel. Medium to full body with low carbonation. My kind of Imperial Stous.

Bottle sample @ CK. deep brown with a small head. Nose Is ink cartridge. Pepper, dark cocoa. Taste is super sweet. Damn. Burnt brown sugar. Chocolate. A bit of soy sauce. Acidic roast coffee. Full body, oily. Meh.

Bottle, from tube. Orange paper inside, pour is no head, thick and syrupy taste is more of the same, big sweet beer with raisins and the like, minimal roasty flavor, almost chewy.. good body I love imperial stouts that make it known they are big heavy beers.

That is amazing! This is sweet. Fan of port wine? That’s nothing compared to this. The body is dark, there’s no head. The aroma is raisins, cognac. Smoke. The palate is incredibly full, the taste is so strong that you only need a drop at time. It’s sweet, molasses, prunes. The longest finish possible. Just wow.

sweet Jebus, they went sweeter. less char than volume 2 and the coffee is up front and center as opposed to in the background. overly sweetened coffee is the aroma and flavor, with some raisiny mollasses going on as well. more bitter at 100 ibus than sweet or red, which is nice, with a slight roasted malt character under the 15.5% abv. nice sipper...still too expensive...but i didn’t buy it :)"

Vintage moment at Finn’s Castle : Nøgne Ø Dark Horizon 3rd Edition. Beige but almost headless in the snifter, pitch-black body. A bouquet of liquorice, lots of fruits and sweets, and grapefruit peels passes my nose. Taste; powerful, prunes and malts, raisins and liquorice, fruits and grapes, candy grains and hops. Palate gets it to the max, power body and fruity de luxe. Very sweet-fruity, and finishes with syrup, apricots, fruit-liqueur or sherry. Luxurious late evening sipper. I saw no almonds but a beautiful midnight sun. Thanx 2 Finn :)

25 cl bottle @ home (2008 vintage). Pours black with a tiny tan head that leaves no lacing. Aroma and flavour are chocolate, coffee, dried fruit, sugar, tobacco, and liquorice - with a smooth and ever so slightly warming finish.

Flaska @ Bishop HBG. Väldigt vinning, mörk frukt, sötma från alkoholen. Fylligheten är perfekt, smaken balanserad.

Bottle from Tanakaya in Tokyo and brought back home. Been about two years or so in the cellar. Nose is dark chocolate, coffee liquor, raisin and dried dark fruit, something a bit tangy fruity, butter chocolate and roasted notes, slight oxidisation, sweet fruit liqueur or sweet wine vinous. Taste is sweet wine vinous, dark chocolate, coffee liquor, slight oxidisation, lots of raisin and sultana, dried fruit. Bit sweet for me. Like a chocolatey desert wine.
