Bottle. Not very keen on this at all, quite high in carbonation, with a sharp boiled vegetable edge to it, as well as the very sweet and sugary dark malt notes. Perhaps this needs to age a bit, but right now, this is not very fun to drink. Too sweet.

0.25 L bottle from Bieropholie in a nice tin canister, served cool in a tulip glass. Brewed 03/07/2008, BB 03/07/2018.
App.: Fairly deep brown-black with no head whatsoever.
Aroma: Sweet and very deep/dark, a little booze, goes deeper/darker than chocolate, coffee or molasses, almost black pepper, an odd bright note with some acidic black coffee, something that makes me think of bbq sauce (maybe smoky? Molasses? Spicy?).
Palate: Medium-full body, nearly still, a little syrupy.
Flav.: Quite a lot of coffee, very sweet, chocolate and molasses, a deep/dark/resinous note, more coffee, plenty of booze (not in a bad way though); sweet with a LOT of booze and a long finish of dark malts and coffee...lots of coffee.
Seems to have held up well.

Pitch black topped with a dirty tan swirl and edgeing.
Nose is big dark fruits, spice, raisens, sweet notes, sherry tones, light coca notes.
Taste comprises sweet licks, chocolate dipped raisens, dates, fruit cake, dark chocoalte, charr, molasses, liquorice.
Full bodied, oily feel, warming alcohol in the close.
Solid impy, drinks well for 15%.

Bottle from my cellar after shoveling snow. Pours jet black with with large bubbled head that faded quickly. Nose is earth, funk, leather, smoke, and port wine. Firs sip is HUGHLY sweet with molasses, brown sugar, espresso with sugar, some mild cherry, and roasted barley. Finish is nice like the sip of coffee where the sugar didn’t completely dissolve.

Bottle, batch 373, enjoyed 6,5 years after bottling, and it’s a story about cellaring success! Pours black, with a minimal creamy mocha head. Aroma is dark roasted malts and notes of port, with tobacco, dark fruits and coffee, as well as notes of burned wood, lactose, cocoa, molasses and liquorice. Full, creamy body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is sweet roasted malts, with tobacco, muscovado, dark chocolate and oak, as well as raisins, prunes and dark fruits, coffee, vanilla and earthy notes of heather and honey. Beautiful finish with notes of wood, dark fruits and sweet coffee. A sweet bugger for sure, but never even close to cloying or over the top, as the sweetness sublimely blends delicately, and close to perfection, with the dark notes of roasted bitterness.

Bottle. $13.99 for a small 8.5oz bottle packed in wrapping paper and a tin. Pours a dark brown with minimal head. Murky. Earthy aroma, dark chocolate, and some roast. Heavy mouthfeel. Bam! This is very sweet. Molasses, brown sugar, slight leather. It’s just so sweet that all other flavors are somewhat drowned out. Very smooth velvety mouthfeel.

8.5 oz. bottle that I think I bought at WIne and Cheese Place when I was living in St. Louis. Pours an inky deep, opaque brown with almost no head, just a little beige wispiness that departs not long after it shows up. Rich aroma - roasted malts, coffee, cacao nibs, molasses, earth, and ash. The flavor is sweeter and not as roasty, with molasses, cacao nibs, fudge, syrup, cola, coffee, and a bit of ash at the finish. Medium-bodied, with a sweet, coating mouthfeel and low carbonation. Probably a bit too much on the sweet side, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy this quite a lot.

250 ml bottle thanks to Gunnar. Black as night body with dark brown head. Aromas of milk chocolate, liquorice, some coffee and alcohol. Taste is pretty sweet, maybe sweeter than the other vintage versions, with milk chocolate, vanilla, liquorice, some oak, maybe some dark fruits and coffee. Sweet aftertaste, pretty sticky mouthfeel. Medium to full body with low carbonation. My kind of Imperial Stous.

Bottle, from tube. Orange paper inside, pour is no head, thick and syrupy taste is more of the same, big sweet beer with raisins and the like, minimal roasty flavor, almost chewy.. good body I love imperial stouts that make it known they are big heavy beers.
