9/14/2011. From bottle. Poured black with a beige head. Boozy aromas with roasted malt, chocolate, licorice, coffee. Thick and bitter with booze showing all the way.

25cl bottle from a trade. This Horizon version surprised me in two ways: it was overly sweet but the 15+ABV was very well hidden. I think if a little age will bury the sweetness and bring more of the coffee forward from the finish, then that would help. Right now its almost one dimensionally sweet.

Backlog. Sweet tones like syrup, caramel, licorice and brown sugar. Some coffee and vanilla, dried fruits and raspberry.

From notes. Black, no head. Dominant alcohol in the nose. Aroma of molasses, ash, cocoa, milk sugar, coffee, hints of anise. Dense, dry, with medium carbonation. Caramel, herbs in the lasting finish.

Brewed 2008-07-04, thanks anttti.

Totally black beer with little beige head. Aroma has sweet licorice but also glue and cellary moldiness. Flavor is very very sweet with syrupy liquerness, coffee, roastiness and salmiakki. Finish is sweet and long .Mouthfeel is very full and soft. Kind of too sweet and alcoholic and seems like it hasn’t aged perfectly.

A: rubber sticker atop a black cap. Pours to the globe a dark brown opaque ale with a single finger of graham head. This falls in a minute or two to a broken sheet of the same. Spotty lacing. Appears medium bodied with slight legs. (4.0) S: Plenty of cocoa and milk chocolate tones are braided with some anise, dark fruits and hints of spicy yeast and some coffee. Nutmeg and allspice alongside cinnamon muddled in butter. Yum! (4.5) T: whoa, much sweeter than I had anticipated. The coffee is still here, but the fruits take hold midway through. This is interesting. Some hints of teriyaki. Raspberry? I think Iike it, but feel like it should be served in a port glass as a compliment to a gluten free, dark chocolate cake. As it warms, some leather and tobacco tones. Man, this is rich. (4.5) M: Medium to viscous. Low to medium carbonation. Finish is mouth-watering and I immediately want another sip, not drink, sip. A little heat from alcohol - guessing ABV is up there (dub digits). (4) O: I really am enjoying this beer. I wish it was a 6oz pour, I had an hour and a half to drink it, a nice glass of scotch on the rocks and an oily maduro cigar coincide the resonance of this one. I feel like this beer is a gamble for many, but a home run for me. (4.5) Serving type: bottle 05-28-2011

Bottle from a friend. Black color, beige head. Bittersweet taste with chili, coffee, vanilla, syrup, chocolate and dark fruits. Bittersweet finish with chili, syrup and chocolate. Very curious imperial stout, too sweet though.

Thanks to Belgbeergeek for sharing bottle @ RBBSG II. Pours a cloudy super dark brown with a wisp of a light brown head. Smell is roasted dark malt, sweet dark fruit and some alcohol heat. The taste is roast, super malty and sweet, figs. Thick with mild carbonation and smooth. A big sweet tasty stout.

Poured from a bottle 3 years old (third edition) into a snifter almost zero head here. Aroma is booze & brown sugar sweetness-hands are starting to shake to try this baby. Oh golly this is the sweetest stuff EVER & so good. The booze chocolate sweetness is a great balance. This 15.5% brew is an exceptional beverage. Had high expectations & it delivered. The coffee, chocolate, brown sugar, caramel, boozy figgy love is all there.
