COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the US this is called "Winter Ale".

A dark ale brewed specially for the Christmas season, with a rich, complex taste of caramel. This is a strong, dark and rather sweet Christmas Beer – just the way we think a Christmas beer should be.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/53°F. Great with cheese or nuts. Ingredients: Lager, Munich, caramel, black, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

19°P, 30 IBU, 8.5 % ABV.

sorry, not only do i not get the "spice" notes in this beer, but...there are NO spices in this beer, so why it’s classed as a spice beer, who knows. 5 malts, heavy on the chocolate and carmel. 3 hops, English ale yeast, and local water. NO spices!! Poured a beautiful dark brown, between a porter and a stout. Neverending head is the theme. Still there 20 minutes later. Good mouthfeel, and it hides the 8.5% dangerously well. I can kind of see where one reviewer gets the "irony" taste, but there is nothing unpleasant in this beer. Great balance of hops and sweet malt in both the nose and flavor. Only 30 ibu’s...really?! GREAT balance. Lots of caramely chocolate in the flavor, especially as the beer warms. Nice, warming finish. I want more. Gotta give Nogne O some props...pretty solid after 4 of their beers."

50 cl bottle @ home (2011 vintage). Pours dark brown with quite a bit of sediment and a light tan head that leaves a lot of lacing. Aroma and flavour are roasted malt, chocolate, hops, and coffee - with a bitter finish.

Barwa: ciemna, nieprzejrzysta. Piana beżowa, drobno pęcherzykowa, obfita i utrzymująca się. Aromat: słodycz, alkohol, ciemne słody, cukierki czekoladowe, owoce, lekki alkohol. Chmielu zbytnio nie wyczułem. Smak: pełny, umiarkowanie słodki z nutą kwaskową. Następnie ciemne słody, orzechy, czekolada, ciastka. Bardzo przyjemny.

@ Havregatan.

Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy light tan head and some broken lace. The aroma is roasted malt, caramel sweet fruit. The flavour is strong bitter with a rich boozy alcohol liqourice palate and a long bitter finish. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Only 8.5%? It seemed stronger.

Bottle from winter 2012. Pours deep clear black with a large creamy tan head that dissipates slowly leaving nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is dark malty, toffee, cocoa, figs, burned caramel. Flavor is a bit simpler, medium sweet and malty with lots of chocolate and caramel, a bit of ash, just a touch of juniper. No real sign of the CCC hopping other than light residual bitterness after this much time in the rot box. Medium body.

500ml bottle. Clear brown body, huge mocha head with good retention. Boozy aroma: candy sugar, yeast, figs, blackberries. Taste of roasted malt, booze, herbal hops a bit woodsy. Heavy.
