COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the US this is called "Winter Ale".

A dark ale brewed specially for the Christmas season, with a rich, complex taste of caramel. This is a strong, dark and rather sweet Christmas Beer – just the way we think a Christmas beer should be.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/53°F. Great with cheese or nuts. Ingredients: Lager, Munich, caramel, black, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

19°P, 30 IBU, 8.5 % ABV.

Dark brownish red with a nice creamy light brown head that leaves a lot of coating. Sediment. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malts, caramel. Taste is not too sweet, roasted malts, dark berries, burnt sugar, bitter chocolate. It has a touch of red wine. Its rich but ends pretty medium and bitter. A nice beer!

500ml bottle. Pours a dark brown with a nice fluffy head. Aged a year by Nøgne Ø, and what a year it as been for the brew. Wonderful tastes that comes alive. Tastes all over the place, mighty impressed.

500 ml. bottle, which was a gusher, unfortunately. Pours a beige head which rapidly collapses, over a cloudy, heavy with particles, brown (SRM 35) body...nose is soy, beef, Boveril, yeast, light dried fruits including cherry and raisin ....taste is sweet throughout, with beef, soy, light dried fruits, including cherry, raisin, finishing with a hop bite.....mouth feel is sticky, thick and chewy, carbonation adds creaminess. This is a rich, thick, heavy, complex, creation. It seems to come closer to the Imperial Stout style, than the garbage can of American Strong Ale, especially since it is brewed in Norway. (16.9oz bottle courtesy of Walter. Thank you!). Pours nearly black with khaki head. Aroma of wood, some smoke, spruce, and dark chocolate. Taste is sweet with some roasty notes and bitterness. Full bodied with creamy/oily texture. Finish is bitter. A very nice Chirstmas beer.

Bottle. Poured a very dark brown color with a finger and a half tan head. Left a minimal amount of lacing on the glass as it went. Aroma was chocolate malts, some coffee, hops, and earth notes. Flavor was coffee, malts, chocolate, and rich coffee malts. Medium body. Medium carbonation, rich and creamy beer, This was a well above average beer.
