COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the US this is called "Winter Ale".

A dark ale brewed specially for the Christmas season, with a rich, complex taste of caramel. This is a strong, dark and rather sweet Christmas Beer – just the way we think a Christmas beer should be.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/53°F. Great with cheese or nuts. Ingredients: Lager, Munich, caramel, black, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

19°P, 30 IBU, 8.5 % ABV.

This was an expensive beer at 5.99 for 500ml but I figured since the Imperial Stout was so good, why the fuck not? It looks like a porter to me, brown with a cocoa colored head. It also smells like a porter, roasty. Mouthfeel is silky and smooth. Taste is a little cocoa, oats, everything about this beer screams porter to me. This actually has nothing in common with the winter warmers I have had, I feel fucking deceived. I understand that beer from Norway has to cost more being an import but unfortunately this one is not worth the price unless you like obscure Norwegian porters like some kind of fucking nerd. Like me! Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 07-23-2007 16:36:26

Wow was this different from what I was expecting. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Taste is all roasted toffee and sweet candied fruits with a hefty hearty coffee backbone. Burnt coffee. Completely shocked by this one. Hoppy sweet coffee and toffee and plums and pears and banana...too complex to list. Just fantastic. Taste is remarkably similar to Hair of the Dog’s Adam.

500ml bottle from Cracked Kettle. Pours black with a big creamy moka head. Head retention is good. Some lacings on the glass. Head is very nice looking. Looks like an iced cappuccino. Nose is big chocolate and roasted malt at first. Then it gets more hoppy, piny and oily. Finish is big roasted malt at first then it gets more hoppy.Fnish is long. Carbonation is faint but palate is great; oily and creamy. Some alcohol, feeling is quite liquory and syrupy. Great beer !

A dark brown, almost black colored beer. It has a thick foamy beige head. The aroma of dark malts, chocolate with coffee. There are dark fruits. The taste of smoked malt with chocolate, some coffee with fruits. It is nice bitter. Some spices with notes of alcohol. The aftertaste is dark bitter with hints of sweet.

Bottle... Poured deep ruby-ish brown with a thick khaki head that lasted throughout the whole brew. Dark fruits like plums, raisins and berries on the nose with a bitter barley character. Nicely spiced with continuous dark fruits in the flavors. A little bit of a metallic hop bitterness to counter the sweeter flavors and a chocolaty finish.
