COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the US this is called "Winter Ale".

A dark ale brewed specially for the Christmas season, with a rich, complex taste of caramel. This is a strong, dark and rather sweet Christmas Beer – just the way we think a Christmas beer should be.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/53°F. Great with cheese or nuts. Ingredients: Lager, Munich, caramel, black, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

19°P, 30 IBU, 8.5 % ABV.

Bottle as "Winter Ale." Poured a dark brown color with a small off-white head. Aroma was coffee, chocolate notes. Flavor is sweet, spices, alcohol notes.

500mL bottle, pours dark brown / black with a tan head. Aroma of brown sugar, molasses, caramel / toffee and roasted malt. Flavour of molasses, sweet roasted malt, licorice, dark chocolate and caramel. Always a unique experience with this brewer.

Pours a deep brown with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, and some sweet figs. Taste is roast, chocolate, and dark fruits with a well balanced bitterness and a nice dry finish.

Deep cherry-mahogany body with a thin, silky tan head that fades. Abundant caramelization in the aroma with strong Munich malt signatures, sweet peated earthy tones, bready yeast, and a note of chocolate. Dark fruit flavors with sweet and bitter cherry skin qualities, plus an element of coffee. Slight impression of oxidation. Richly sweet and malty overall, with latent bitterness. Velvety texture. A sweet, slow, and decadent winter warmer, but a little too much sticky unattenuated malt for me to truly love. Should be listed as an English Strong Ale.

22oz bottle. Very dark pour, tan head. Not much of an aroma really, can’t make much out. Pretty good flavor, dark and fruity, not bad.

Courtesy of Marsiblursi. 50 cl bottle. Perfumey alcohol and spice dominate the aroma. It’s somewhat harsh really like a faint whiff of acetone. The body is a deep brown and holds fairly lasting thumb thick tan head. Sweetened pumpernickel, spice and lightly roasty with a soft mouthfeel and a very mild spice/alcohol heat.

Pours clear dark brown with tan head. Aromas of dark fruits and spices. Sweet raisin flavor and slightly roasty with lots of winter spices. Medium body with lively carbonation.

Rich. Deep caramel tones. Doesn’t taste like most American Strongs. Instead, it has a bit of that Great Divide Hibernation strong ale taste. Very nice.
