COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the US this is called "Winter Ale".

A dark ale brewed specially for the Christmas season, with a rich, complex taste of caramel. This is a strong, dark and rather sweet Christmas Beer – just the way we think a Christmas beer should be.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/53°F. Great with cheese or nuts. Ingredients: Lager, Munich, caramel, black, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

19°P, 30 IBU, 8.5 % ABV.

Cloudy dark reddish brown, moderate to large head that lasts, close to giving a 5, but gushing everywhere = 3. Good choco -caramel aroma and flavor, feels spiced but it says it isn’t. Velvety mouthfeel, some alcohol burn. Really cool flavors here, too bad half of it got on the rug.

Pours a near black color with a big creamy dark head that lasts and laces. Aroma is big roasted malt, some pine hops, dark chocolate and a touch of nuttiness. Flavor is much the same, sweet and roasty up front, with some spice and fruit, then a big hoppy boozy finish. I liked it a lot.

Nothing really wowed me about this one, but it was better than the Peculiar Ale. Mahogany pour produces a sandy brown head, 1/2 height. Minimal aroma that is reminiscent of Nestle Quik and raisins. Fairly moderate flavor, as well...with subtle chocolate, caramel, toffee, and brown sugar. Just a hint of spice. Not aggressive, not impressive.

Bottle sampled. Pours dark with a two finger thick cola colored head. The aroma is of caramel, chocolate, roast, and some sweetness. THe flavor is sweet, caramel, chocolate, smooth, with a mild hoppy presence.

Bottle. Dark brown color with a small brown head on it. Smell is very sweet with chocolate flavors and caramel. Some hops noted, but they are really only there in the smell. Taste is similar to Anchor Christmas ale with a nice roasted sweet flavor to it. Alcohol isnt noted, very smooth beer. Good stuff

Dark brown color with a creamy tan head. Aroma of cocoa, caramel, and hops. Superb lacing. Caramel flavor with chocolate, yeast and a touch of hops. Creamy mouth feel. Exceptional beer!

Bottle. Deep brown color, full foam. Very mild aroma, a hint of dark malt and weedy, herbaceous hops. Flavor is very interesting and complex and I can see why others like it, but I just don’t enjoy the profile. It has a lot of hints herbal tea, resinous hops and light malt components. Doesn’t seem very together. However, I had their Imperial Stout a couple days ago. Top notch stuff.

Pours a very dark brown with almost no head. Very light nd fizzy. Some roastiness, dark fruit, and dark malts in the nose. Not very profound though. Had to work for it. Taste is pretty roasty somewhat like the brown but wth a more fruity taste. Very subtle fruit though. Slightly sweet, get more of it as it warms a few degrees. Pretty good.
