COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the US this is called "Winter Ale".

A dark ale brewed specially for the Christmas season, with a rich, complex taste of caramel. This is a strong, dark and rather sweet Christmas Beer – just the way we think a Christmas beer should be.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/53°F. Great with cheese or nuts. Ingredients: Lager, Munich, caramel, black, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

19°P, 30 IBU, 8.5 % ABV.

Almost black opaque dark brown with light brown head. Strong aromas of berries, chocolate, caramel, coffee, licorice, and alcohol - fruit dominating. Taste is dry roastiness leading into caramel, fruit, and herbs. Finishes earthy. Lingering sweetness in the back of my mouth. Medium body with silky texture and mild carbonation. Rich but drinkable. Juicy taste with just the right sweetness. Really enjoyed this

500ml bottle, batch 453. Dark brown with an average dark beige head. The aroma is great, sweet and roasted malts with earthy hops, liquorice, caramel, dark fruits and hints of alcohol. Flavor is mainly of roasted malts and nice dark fruits with some spiciness and hints of chocolate and liquorice. Palate is pleasant, full and creamy. I need to get a couple of bottles of this for christmas, it was delicious. Merry Christmas Nøgne Ø :)

Bottle. Pours a deep mahogany with a creamy tan coloured head. Quite oily appearance with plenty of lacing as the head slowly dies away. Great looking beer. Aromas of choclate, toasted malt and sweet caramel. Some spiciness comes through as the beer warms. Yep really enjoying this so far. Flavours of sweet malt and caramel up front, this is then followed by coffee and finishes off with more off that spiciness. Mouthfeel is quite full and creamy. Great beer

Bottle at home. Pours black with a creamy tan head that leaves lacing. Aroma is very fruity, slightly hoppy, spicy and with mango, passion fruit, licorice and a lot more. Very complex aroma and also much complexity in the flavor, creamy, fruity, roasted malt. Very smooth, great.

Wow! This is by far one of the most delicious christmas beers I´ve tested. A nice balanced aroma of malt, caramel, chocolate but not to sweet. The base of the taste is a rich and malty beer with taste of caramel, chocolate some dark berries. Top 5 of my favorite christmas beers!

Ett år i källaren har förädlat detta redan goda öl. Nu mer vinöst (tänk portvin) och väldigt välbalanserat. Blev 2009 års vinnare vid vår julölsprovning. Bekräftar tesen att bra öl ska lagras.

On tap at grunerløkka brygghus before christmas. Dark brown color, looks almost like coca cola, with a thick tanned head :) Nose is roasty malt, caramel, coffee which is joined in the middle by fruit and some herbs, really a taste of christmas, a little abrubt finish. Thick oily feel, which is a very good thing for a beer of this type
