2010 vintage bottle from Systembolaget. At home. November 5th, 2011.
Pours deep brown, almost black with a firm layer of light brown foam. Rich and sweet aromas of spices, chocolate, dark fruits, caramel and toffee. Full taste with smooth and rich body. Intense flavours of hard toffee, spices, dried fruits and more chocolate. Light notes of smoke and roasted malt. Long complex after taste whit great refined flavours. This could very well be one of the best christmas beers around!

Bottle. Poured a very dark brown color with a finger and a half tan head. Left a minimal amount of lacing on the glass as it went. Aroma was chocolate malts, some coffee, hops, and earth notes. Flavor was coffee, malts, chocolate, and rich coffee malts. Medium body. Medium carbonation, rich and creamy beer, This was a well above average beer.

500 ml bottle, bought in Cracked Kettle, Amsterdam.
Deepdeep brown body with a fantastic creamy and foamy head. Pleasant aroma with dark chocolate, cocoa, deep roasted malt and toasted caramel, some vanilla. Fine mouthfeel, oily texture. Interesting and rich flavor of roasted grains, bit of chocolate and tobacco, some coffee and toffee, nice fruity tastes like raisins and plum. Plus a freaky hop character. Sweet liqueric and roasted aftertaste. Exciting one!

I believe I bought this bottle in November, so it’s about 8-9 months old. The cellaring has done nothing but good things, and this bottle could have gone even further. It’s smooth, rich and sweet, like a piece of flourless chocolate cake drizzled with caramel sauce. It’s essentially a big stout with some extra caramel malt flavor, though perhaps the hops are more pronounced when fresh. As is, chocolate and caramel dominate the flavor profile. Roast gets a bit bigger in the finish. Aroma is even more dominated by caramel with a heavy but wonderful presence of crystal malt. Feel is smooth and luxurious. It’s thick and relatively lightly carbonated. There’s a touch of booziness in the aftertaste but much less than expected. This is an excellent beer.

Bottle into chalice. Pours a deep, opaque black, with a beautiful fluffy tan head that settles into a cap that never goes away. Nose is interesting - brown sugar and a bit of caramel, just a bit roasty, hints of cocoa and some spicy alcohol in there also. Taste is sweet, with caramel and brown sugar mixing it up with roasty malt, hints of coffee, and a bit of soy. Tons of really nice, smooth ultra-dark cocoa in there also towards the finish, which is light and roasty, but somewhat long, and with the cocoa still lingering as well. Mouthfeel is really well done also, creamy and plush. I would easily drink this again. And again.
