COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the US this is called "Winter Ale".

A dark ale brewed specially for the Christmas season, with a rich, complex taste of caramel. This is a strong, dark and rather sweet Christmas Beer – just the way we think a Christmas beer should be.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/53°F. Great with cheese or nuts. Ingredients: Lager, Munich, caramel, black, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

19°P, 30 IBU, 8.5 % ABV.

1 pt .9 oz bottle poured into Trappist glass. Opaque dark chocolate body, with a mocha-colored head. Lively carbonation, and as other raters experienced, it foamed over immediately on opening. The nose is dominated by chocolate, but there are also aromas of fruit and cinnamon candy. The palate is soft and creamy, with a fizzy finish. Flavors of sweet cola and chocolate up front, dried fruit in the aftertaste, and a spicy, but not overbearing hop finish. This tastes quite like a porter with a hop finish. How can an American Strong Ale come from Norway, anyway?

500 ml bottle. Batch #448. Finland.
Dark reddish brown colour with small to average sand head. Dark fruits, roasted malt, bitter hops, dark chocolate, cola bottle gummies and some sweet caramel in aroma full of character. Dark chocolate, salty liquorice, sweet liquorice, roasted malt, bitter hops, indoor plants and hints of coffee in dry flavour. Every sip brings something new. Complex and interesting brew. Excellent! Heia Norge! Makes me wanna buy another bottle and wait until it’s 2014 (BB).

(500 ml bottle, batch #365. Rated @ 13.11.2009.)
Black colour with a massive brown head. Loads of chocolate, caramel, spices and roasted malts on the nose. Very christmassy aroma. The flavour is stout-like with it’s licorice, dark chocolate, and sweet fruits. Alcohol warms in the end. Dry and hoppy finish. Great beer for the holiday season.
