COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the US this is called "Winter Ale".

A dark ale brewed specially for the Christmas season, with a rich, complex taste of caramel. This is a strong, dark and rather sweet Christmas Beer – just the way we think a Christmas beer should be.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/53°F. Great with cheese or nuts. Ingredients: Lager, Munich, caramel, black, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

19°P, 30 IBU, 8.5 % ABV.

Bottle. Winter Ale label. Pours pitch black with a huge, very frothy tan head. Woody, malt aroma with some chocolate and prunes. Smoked malt flavors with some decent bitterness. Spicy and fruity. Chocolate , coffee and tobacco notes. Exceptionally dry finish.

Vintage 2 years old. Fantastic nice dark looking beer with lots of typical centennial notes in combination with sweet Christmas flavor such as caramel, dark fruit and very good hop aroma and flavor. Could drink a lot more of this beer. Very good!

A traditional Norwegian Christmas beer with all the trimmings. Nice teak colour with a fine head. Very Christmasy aroma of star anise, chocolate, nutmeg - and a dash of sump oil for good measure. Very rich and sweet - it screams overindulgence. Nice soft palate, creamy and filling. Taste of dried fruit and molasses initially, but developsa big throaty bitter finish. Quite a spicy tamale. Very true to the Christmas beer tradition. Nice work. (Duff homecoming gathering, thanks to Duff for this one)

Bottle. Pours very dark brown with a creamy tan head that lasts ages. Nose is quite sweet with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, caramel and dark fruits. Flavour is more malty, wtih stronger chocolate and caramel notes as well, but the fruity notes are still present with hints of cherries, dates and raisins. Snooth, creamy mouthfeel with moderate carbonation and a lingering roasty, bitter finish. Very nice dark ale, very close to a porter and deceptively easy to drink.

500mL bottle, pours dark brown / black with a tan head. Aroma of brown sugar, molasses, caramel / toffee and roasted malt. Flavour of molasses, sweet roasted malt, licorice, dark chocolate and caramel. Always a unique experience with this brewer.

Fin mörk färg, balanserad doft och kryddor men även av lakrits, brända toner och kaffe. Smaken är fantastisk tjock och trevlig med de samma smakerna som i doften. Härlig finish och det ypperste av julöl tycker jag.

Bottle wi Ben. Pours dark brown, almost black. Holds a tight tan/white head. Smells mild. Chocolatey. Tastes VERY malty indeed. Sweet and well balanced. Tastes close to a porter. Fantastic..
