COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the US this is called "Winter Ale".

A dark ale brewed specially for the Christmas season, with a rich, complex taste of caramel. This is a strong, dark and rather sweet Christmas Beer – just the way we think a Christmas beer should be.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/53°F. Great with cheese or nuts. Ingredients: Lager, Munich, caramel, black, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

19°P, 30 IBU, 8.5 % ABV.

(Bottle) Very dark brown colour with ruby hints through light. Frothy, lasting, brown head, leaving traces of lacing. Roasted, malty, spicy nose with chocolate, clove, ginger, citrus and dark rye bread. Malty, roasted taste with dark chocolate, Christmas spices (ginger, clove), gingerbread cake, juniper berries, Seville orange and a hint of tar and smoke. Full body, rather sweet, with a hint of alcohol lingering in the background. Lovely beer, leaning in the porter direction. These uncompromising Norwegians never seem to let me down. Keep ’em coming.

Batch 260. Pours dark brown, nearly black with little creamy bubbly white/brown head. Aroma and taste of roasted malts - caramel, coffee, hops & bitter chocolate. Spices & easy smoke. Soft & filling texture. Great bitter lasting finish. Truly wonderfull.

Thanks again to Drewbeerme for another great newcomer. Tipical Stout style with more hops and caramel than ususal, smells sweet but palate is very dry and even salty. Smokey finish with some underlying dark fruits. Goes great with cheese.

Bottle. Dark red / brown color with a large good lacing brown head. Aroma is heavy malty, hoppy, roadsted, dark chocolate, alcohol, smoky notes. Flavor is heavy and complex but in a very nice balance of sweetness and bitternes some notes of alcoholic.

Bottle at Akkurat, Stockholm, 15th Feb 2010. Very dark brown colour, tan head. Rich, sweet taste of dark fruits, wood and jam. Nose is similar. Palate is very clean. Has weight without excessive clinginess or stickiness. Lingers in the mouth just right. Great winter ale.

[258-20070412] 1pt0.9floz (w/ jerc). Boozy chocolate malt aroma has nutty hints of raspberry fruit. Dark brown black red-hued body with a long-lasting creamy brown head. Dark chocolatey roasted malt flavour has lots of nut and wood notes. Full body is boozy and fairly bitter after. Points for blending a winter warmer but bitterness brings out too much nut.
