COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the US this is called "Winter Ale".

A dark ale brewed specially for the Christmas season, with a rich, complex taste of caramel. This is a strong, dark and rather sweet Christmas Beer – just the way we think a Christmas beer should be.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/53°F. Great with cheese or nuts. Ingredients: Lager, Munich, caramel, black, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

19°P, 30 IBU, 8.5 % ABV.

(note: I drank this beer 8°C when recommended temperature is 12°C) 500ml bottle: Light brown head. Almost pitch black. Aroma is sweet roasted malts with fruity apricot like hint. Palate is nice, Sparkly at tongue, but vanhishes fast. Aroma is more with same apricot-fruity tone, roasted malt is on the background. Sweet, but not too sweet because of little bit bitterness at the end. 8% alc vol, warms you up, like beer of this season should. I think I now know what I’m drinking on "christmas table" (traditional food board served at Christmas in Finland)

First beer from Nogne. Ridiculously good. I was impressed by the complexity and depth. Thick mouthfeel, with many deep dark malts present. Very warming but alcohol was not a standout flavour. The hallmark of an excellent beer. Had to fight with my wife over the last sip. Hops balanced extremely well with malts. Gonna try to go back and get more of this one.

Pours dark with a tan head, lots of head. Goes down very smooth with a ton of flavor. Lots of caramel and malts! Excellent brew.

pours an opaque brown with a sudsy brown head that retains poorly. the aroma is dark berries married with chocolate and heavily roasted malts, reminding me of some robust porters I have encountered. The flavour was bittersweet roasted chocolate malt with nice bitter hops balancing out the flavour. Some dark pitted fruits are evident, too. There is also a fair amount of yeasty esters in the tatse. The finish is chocolate mostly. The palate is velvety smooth and long lasting. Very soft carbonation adds to the silky quality of the palate.

500 ml bottle from Pizza Port. Dark brown with a fizzy tan head. Chocolate and spice aroma and taste with some nice vanilla and caramel notes to the finish.

Dark brown to black with tanned lacing head. Burned malty aroma with salty liquorice and citric spices. Flavor is burned malts, liquorice, slight chocolate, coffee and quite strong spices. Smoothly bitter coffeeish finish. Medium to full bodied, smooth palate. Viciously burned and spicy but still extremely drinkable.

Excellent, complex winter ale. Pours dark brown, almost black, with a medium tan head. Aroma is porter-like roastiness plus some hops. Flavor is really complex: molasses, roasted malts, coffee, licorice, spices, floral hops, and some alcohol. The only flaw in my opinion was that it seemed a little boozy at times. Smooth palate. One of the best examples of its style that I’ve had this year.

Dark brown with a lush milky-tan head. Nose has some fantastic balance between sugary malt elements in chocolate and a nice, full spice. Flavor has a lot of milk chocolate sweetness, some smoke, light alcohol, spice. Sharp palate, moderate body. Unique and diverse, God Jul is high quality.
