COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the US this is called "Winter Ale".

A dark ale brewed specially for the Christmas season, with a rich, complex taste of caramel. This is a strong, dark and rather sweet Christmas Beer – just the way we think a Christmas beer should be.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/53°F. Great with cheese or nuts. Ingredients: Lager, Munich, caramel, black, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

19°P, 30 IBU, 8.5 % ABV.

Pours a pitch black color with a tan head. Has a lot of roasted and burnt malt flavor. Some sugars and spices. Finishes with a dry burnt flavor on your tongue. Thanks to Dragonstout for the beer dude.

bottle labeled winter ale poured into a Trappist glass has a dark black color and a nice thick tan one finger head that retained well. aroma has black and chocolate malt, nuts, light holiday spices, and some sweet caramel. mouth feel is medium and coats the inside of the mouth with light carbonation. flavor has a great combination of smooth malt, touch of roast, holiday spiced but not too much so, ripe fruit, and caramel sweetness at just the right level. alcohol is warming but no real heat to it.

Pours an Opaque brown colour with a small tan head. Aroma of caramel malts, chocolate, dark malts and hints of floral hops and copper. Initial taste is roasty, caramel, dark chocolate and slight bitter hops. Finishing with a a chocolate palate that is above average. Mouthfeel is slight sticky with a soft carbonation. Minor head retention of just a light ring around the glass.

Deep, dark mahogany body with crimson highlights. Small, asymmetrical, bubbly khaki head. Minimal sudsy lace. The aroma is rich, robust, and inviting with darkly roasted caramel malts, dark chocolate, coffee, oak, and hazelnut liquor showing through. The taste is exactly what a winter warmer should be. Rich, creamy coffee blends smoothly with bittersweet chocolate, burnt oak, dark caramel, hazelnuts, and a touch of vanilla. Very earthy in its use of wood and nut flavorings. Some piney hops show on the back end, adding bitterness. Well balanced, and not too sweet. Substantial body. Very smooth. Lingering, dry roasted finish. A nice, warming, roasty slow sipper. Great beer.

Wow. Very complex beer. It pours a dark brown color with a small amount of tan head. The aroma is of dark chocolate with notes of dark fruit and I swear there’s port in it. Kind of thick and creamy in the mouth it finishes with some hop bite and warms as it goes down. Good Christmas beer!

Dark reddish/brown pour. Aroma is yeasty, dates, raisins, spices, cookies. Flavor is malty and full of dark dried fruit, spices, light chocolate, toffee and some light nutiness too. Good.

Medium beige head with long lasting lacing. Almost black liquid with shades of ruby. Rich and earhy roasted malts and sweeter caramel malts in the finish. Dark dried fruits and plenty of hops. Spices and some coffee notes in the long bitter finish. Flavor has malty sweetness with sourness and salty licorice. Medium bodied with smooth and thick mouthfeel. Surprisingly light taken into account the amount of alcohol. Fine beer wheter it is Christmas or not.
