COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the US this is called "Winter Ale".

A dark ale brewed specially for the Christmas season, with a rich, complex taste of caramel. This is a strong, dark and rather sweet Christmas Beer – just the way we think a Christmas beer should be.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/53°F. Great with cheese or nuts. Ingredients: Lager, Munich, caramel, black, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

19°P, 30 IBU, 8.5 % ABV.

(Bottle BB 24/09/11) Citrus fruity, roasted malty and coffee aroma. Black colour with a hint of red and brownish, small, very slightly lasting head with fair lacing. Fruity (citrus), roasted malty, licorice, coffee and moderately bitter flavour. Softly carbonated, creamy and medium to full-bodied palate. An excellent Xmas brew! 08/11/06

Shared by my good buddy Odeed! Labeled Winter Ale! Nose of smokiness, caramel and citrus hops that I picked up from far away from the bottle; very dark brown with a small beige head; flavor of hop bitterness, caramel, and some smokiness (again)!

Sweet and tangy aroma, chocolate, caramel. The appearance is like that of an imperial stout, black, tan head, decent lacing. The flavor is dark chocolate, caramel, licorice, spice. Medium to thick in body, creamy mouthfeel. The finish is a substantial piney hop bittering, which hangs in there. Nothing crazy, but a really nice beer overall.

Bottle via beerlando and somebody else(forgot). Dark purple/reddish color. Smell of caramel, toffee, roasted nuts, malt, hops, spice, coco and alcohol. Taste of heavy caramel, hops, malt, toffee, nuts, bread, spice, plums and a watery taste at the end. In my last sip, could taste some alcohol and vanilla. Still a wonderful brew.

500 ml bottle. This bottle pretty much redefined the word ’gusher’ for me. Between the time I popped the cap and got a glass, there was a big brown puddle surrounding it on on the counter. I put the bottle in the sink, and by the time I cleaned the counter roughly a third of the contents had foamed out. The part I got to try was great!

Thanks Omhper for this bottle. Appearance: dark brown color. Big head, beige, dense, with good adherence to glass but quickly collapse. Aroma: toasted, chocolate and caramel. Spicy “Christmas” aromas; also vanilla and wood. Flavor: roasted-malty start with reminiscences of bitter chocolate, mocha and berries in chocolate. The chocolate hints and the yeasty touch remember me a chocolaty-cake. Spicy notes like clove and aniseed. The sweetness hides the alcoholic degree. Roasted aftertaste. Palate: full body; semi-oily and creamy texture. Medium carbonation. Remark: nice roasty and spicy profile, lightly complex and good palate. Very advisable.
