Thanks Omhper for this bottle.
Appearance: dark brown color. Big head, beige, dense, with good adherence to glass but quickly collapse.
Aroma: toasted, chocolate and caramel. Spicy “Christmas” aromas; also vanilla and wood.
Flavor: roasted-malty start with reminiscences of bitter chocolate, mocha and berries in chocolate. The chocolate hints and the yeasty touch remember me a chocolaty-cake. Spicy notes like clove and aniseed. The sweetness hides the alcoholic degree. Roasted aftertaste.
Palate: full body; semi-oily and creamy texture. Medium carbonation.
Remark: nice roasty and spicy profile, lightly complex and good palate. Very advisable.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 altonbrownd (3419) - Brussels, BELGIUM - MAY 2, 2009
Bottle on Queens Day from Cracked Kettle. Okay, it’s not Christmas but have wanted to try this for sometime. Dark brown body. Lots of head. Sweet and chocolate nose. Taste also has chocolate and sweet up front, then gets a bitter fruitier. Very nice.

Bottle pours a deep mahogany body with a thick cocoa hued head that leaves sheet lacing wheni it finally subsides. Aroma has roast coffee, dark fruits(figs and dates), anise, and chocolate. Full body is supported by a coating and smooth carbonation. Taste is dominated by coffee notes. Chocolate and anise are evident. Dark fruits, mostly prunes, linger in the back ground. Finishes with roasty coffee notes.
Excellent winter porter.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 grandridge (224) - Port Clinton, Ohio, USA - APR 14, 2008
The cap just finished exploding off my bomber. Poured foamy and tan all over my desk. When it finially settled down, it poured nearly black (very dark brown) with tan head and chunkies in the bottom. Aroma is spice, smoke and chocolate. Mouthfeel is thick (very nice). Nice malt up front with a smokey finish blended with molases and caramel. Nice finish, I would maybe want just a little more flavor up front. I was expecting something a little more bold. I still really like this brew though.

Bottle labelled Winter Ale. Poured a dark brown color with a smallish light brown head. Fantastic aroma of chocolate, nuts, caramel, dark fruit and vanilla. Somewhat thin palate and somewhat creamy; a slight smokey finish. Flavor really starts to come out with a little warmth. Chocolate, nuts and caramel dominate the flavor.
