COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the US this is called "Winter Ale".

A dark ale brewed specially for the Christmas season, with a rich, complex taste of caramel. This is a strong, dark and rather sweet Christmas Beer – just the way we think a Christmas beer should be.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/53°F. Great with cheese or nuts. Ingredients: Lager, Munich, caramel, black, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

19°P, 30 IBU, 8.5 % ABV.

Pours very dark brown with a medium tan head. Aroma is a bit spicy with roasted malts. Flavor is heavily roasted malts with some spices and some hops in the finish. Exactly what you could expect from a nogne christmas beer. Enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy light brown with a big beige head. Malty aroma with a bit of hop, nut and spice. Sweet and spiced malt flavor up front with a dryer hop finish. Pretty good and well worth the risk.

It poured a pitch black liquid with a small dirty white foam. Weak smell of chocolate, coffee and something burned. Similar taste but allot stronger. Medium bitterness, medium body. Nice Christmas beer.

Bottle. Pours deep dark brown with a long lasting tan head. Sweet aroma, honey with bitter chocolate and nutmeg. Definite sweet caramel and chocolate flavor, a touch of underlying hop bitterness, cinnamon and a some other spice in there also. Very sticky and thick. Very good, this is almost a stout but lacking that roasted flavor.

500ml bottle from Cracked Kettle. Pours black with a big creamy moka head. Head retention is good. Some lacings on the glass. Head is very nice looking. Looks like an iced cappuccino. Nose is big chocolate and roasted malt at first. Then it gets more hoppy, piny and oily. Finish is big roasted malt at first then it gets more hoppy.Fnish is long. Carbonation is faint but palate is great; oily and creamy. Some alcohol, feeling is quite liquory and syrupy. Great beer !

Bottle. Muddy black/brown with lasting thick head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, hops, burned toast. Also some dark fruits and cinnamon/nutmeg. Flavors are reminiscent of an IS but a little sweeter : roasted coffee, chocolate, brown sugar and toffee. Medium rich palate with appropriate carbonation. Once again, this a very interesting and hard to classify brew from Nogne.

Bottle. Dark brown pour. Heavy complex aroma: chocolate, caramel and nutty malts, hops, slight alcohol. Flavor is smoother than aroma would suggest, vanilla, oak, spices, malty chocolate, slight hop presence.

500ml bottle from Brewdog bar, Aberdeen. It pours darkest brown with a thin lace of tan head. The nose is banana, wood, honey, vanilla, milk chocolate and some orange blossom. The taste is sweet to start; marshmallow, caramel, dark and milk chocolate, which leads to a more savoury finish of liquorice, aniseed, roasted coffee, cinnamon and nutmeg. Mighty tasty stuff!
