COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the US this is called "Winter Ale".

A dark ale brewed specially for the Christmas season, with a rich, complex taste of caramel. This is a strong, dark and rather sweet Christmas Beer – just the way we think a Christmas beer should be.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/53°F. Great with cheese or nuts. Ingredients: Lager, Munich, caramel, black, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

19°P, 30 IBU, 8.5 % ABV.

U.S. "Winter Ale" label. Pours a deep cola brown with a rushing head of tan. Roasty caramel aromas. Licorice-infused flavors. Roasty malts, raisins, and plums. Chocolate maltiness in the background. Finish of coffee, juniper berries, and prunes. Hazelnut lingers on my lips. Smooth body. Interesting.

From an $8.49 bottle this unfortunately was a gusher and about 3 ounces of the beer foamed out of the bottle onto the tabletop. Once I got it under control it poured black with a light tan head and really thick lacing The nose was of ripe fruit along with chocolate and nuts. Mouthfeel creamy and slick. Flavor runs to malts and light hops. A very nice drinking beer and just a little expensive when so much of it gets lost while opening the bottle.

Near black colored, medium sized beige head. Aroma is rich with roasted licorice, even some spices with sweet caramelly porterish tones. Mild alcohol also there. Medium to full bodied. Flavor is also roasted with strongly sweet touch, medium alcohol with coffee and bittersweetness in aftertaste. Almost too sweet for this strong beer, still world class brew.

22oz bottle my neighbor brought over. Pours a rich, dark brown color with a small off white.beigish head. Nose is slightly metallic with rich nuts and toffee and some chocolate. Palate is fluffy. Flavors of coffee, light metal, caramel and toffee.

16.9 oz. bottle. Pours a very dark brown, not quite black, with a thick, luscious, tan head that lasted to the bottom of the glass and left light sheets of lace. Very nice aroma of caramel, raisins and bitter chocolate. Not quite as flavorful as the aroma would inidiate, but still pleasant with notes of caramel, bitter chocolate and alcohol. Moderate bitterness and warming at the finish. Medium bodied. I’d like to try this again around the Holidays instead of August!

Bottle sampled. Pours dark with a two finger thick cola colored head. The aroma is of caramel, chocolate, roast, and some sweetness. THe flavor is sweet, caramel, chocolate, smooth, with a mild hoppy presence.
