COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the US this is called "Winter Ale".

A dark ale brewed specially for the Christmas season, with a rich, complex taste of caramel. This is a strong, dark and rather sweet Christmas Beer – just the way we think a Christmas beer should be.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/53°F. Great with cheese or nuts. Ingredients: Lager, Munich, caramel, black, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

19°P, 30 IBU, 8.5 % ABV.

Wow, great beer! Reminds me a lot of julmust (a swedish Christmas soft drink made with malt extracts) with more spices and a nice softly warming alcohol sensation in the back of the throat. Also some chocolate cake and caramel. Light sweetness in the end, which fit the flavours perfectly. Very different, very nice!

Dark, dark mahogany color - almost black. Could actually be black, but I see mahogany highlights. Giant, light tan head that doesn’t look like it will fall anytime soon. Big layers of bubbles left behind on the glass. Spicy aroma. Ginger, cinnamon, molasses, chocolate and coffee. After the initial whiff of spices the chocolate and roasted aromas really shine. Taste is similar to the aroma, but malt forward with spices on the back end. In the middle is chocolatey goodness. A little thin, but still tasty. I think I found my new holiday beer - so far.

Bottle enjoyed at home from batch #673/694, 2011 edition - also on tap at Amundsen
Pours dark brown, black in glass, finger thick medium tanned head. Leaves nice rings and laces on glass too. Smells of roasted malts, smoke and coffee. Super full malt body, some sweetness but not dominant., coffee and some smoke. Quite dry and oily palate. Super bitter finish that shows off some quite interesting hops. Probably the best norwegian christmas micro?

No sembla ni una American Strong Ale, ni tampoc una cervesa de nadal. Té torrats, chocolata, café, un punt lleuger de caramel i un final lleugerament amarg. Fosca i amb el carbònic fi i ben integrat. Gran cervesa.

Bottle, thanks Vaiz! Thick black, hint of brown with tanned creamy head. Strong lacing. Incredible aroma with lots of fruits, there’s banana, cherries, apple and more, further coffee and strong hops. Long lingering bitterness in the flavour. Awesome.

Olmost black with light brown head , nice malty aroma - nice taste of some caramel malt along with some roasted malt and nice hop bitterness that lingers into a nice finish - a very well made beer

Almost black opaque dark brown with light brown head. Strong aromas of berries, chocolate, caramel, coffee, licorice, and alcohol - fruit dominating. Taste is dry roastiness leading into caramel, fruit, and herbs. Finishes earthy. Lingering sweetness in the back of my mouth. Medium body with silky texture and mild carbonation. Rich but drinkable. Juicy taste with just the right sweetness. Really enjoyed this
