On tap at Håndverkerstuene. Dark brown with a reddish hue and a beige to off-white head. Roasty aroma with licorice, caramel and hints of dark fruits, spices, hops and smoke. Sweet and malty with a nice and bitter finish. Well balanced. Medium to full body. Nice and delicious Christmas beer with a lovely bitterness. (2012-11-01

pours unclear medium dark brown with a small yellow cap, some retention and lacing. smoked raisins, salted caramel, red grapes, woodsy and almost vinous, very spicy - cinnamon - well dosed though, lots of bitter herbs, moderate sweetness. moderate carbonation, medium body - oily, assertive and astringent grassy-spicy finish. awkward, interesting and tasty.

On the first sitting with this beer the lively carbonation took over adding a great aroma but masked the flavors on the tongue. It was so off-putting that i re capped the half of the bottle and am drinking it a day later. I must say this did wonders for this beer. It really opened up giving off flavors of roasted malt, sour cherry jam, blackstrap molasses, and tobacco, while the sharp carbonic acidity dissipated into a velvety texture, overwhelmed by the flavors. Overall I can’t justify giving this beer a very good rating based on my first impressions but if you have patience and can get past the lively carbonation, this beer has allot to offer.

Bottle shared by czar, thanks! Pours a dark and opaque brown with a yellow (huh?) head that offers good lacing. Nose is smokey and fruity, offers some light sugar and unfortunately something I associate with cleaning products. This isn’t a disaster though and definitely something special. Taste is dry (I didn’t expect that) and offers the same smoky flavors as the nose would suggest. There is also some salty chocolate impressions. Body was medium-full and mouthfeel really lean. Alcohol was really well hidden also. Fun and definitely special, I really enjoyed that one!

0.5L bottle. Coffee color and creamy, brown fat top. Smoky, caramel hop aroma. Alcohol, strong overcooked sugar, coffee, oven cheese, sour overcooked vegetables. Quite attractive. Smoky bitter end. After few seconds is alcohol taste on mouth.

1/8/2012. From bottle labeled as Winter Ale. Dark brown with a tan head. Spicy and malty aromas with chocolate, caramel, dark malt. Sweet ad spicy flavors and not overly hoppy. Very nice seasonal.
